George and I were almost the same age - born only 12 days apart. I knew George from our days together at Rosedale Public School. We were classmates. I remember on some occasions our teacher would fill some class time and invite individuals to stand up in front of the class and either tell a story or sing a song. Well, George excelled at both and I can still to this day recall George singing delightful little songs. One was called Little Red Caboose and the other was Open Road. Jane Brewin Morley's story of kissing games at parties not only brought a huge laugh to me, but also reminded me of the sight of George starting off these games with great delight and a certain twinkle in his eye!
I remember running into George at Ely's many years ago - the only time since school days, but a memorable moment just the same.
I shall miss him knowing that he has left us and I send my sincere condolences to his family and relatives.

As a TCS Old Boy, and Stony Lake habitué, George and I go over fifty years. I spoke to George in March this year after his brother Michael passing and we had a long chat.
I was shocked to read that he had passed away.
George and I, and our friends shared so many fun experiences together. Life’s memories are made from moments like those.
He made a big impression with my wife’s family directly following our wedding with his wit on full display. He had us all laughing.
Throughout the years, Anne’s sisters still brought up his name.
He was a man of many talents with a wonderful personality all his own.
Here’s to you George and thank you for the memories. You will be missed.

I am one of those friends of George's from Stony Lake. I think I first met him when he was about the age of the younger photo of him posted on this website. I remember him as an infectiously happy child rowing from cottage to cottage. And yes there were hilarious moments. He was a particular fan of Spin the Bottle that involved kissing. It is sad that he is no longer with us, but he will stay with me in the happy memories I have of him. My condolences to his family members. Jane Brewing Morley

Deepest sympathies to the Thompson family. While a student, I had the pleasure of working with George at Ely's Royal York. Always a gentleman and a class individual. I learned a lot from George. May he rest in peace and may his memory be eternal.

My condolences to George’s family. I have wonderful memories of him as a top narrator at CNIB when I was manager of the recording studio. That voice! He brought many works of literature to life for people who could not read print. And charmed us all in the process.
