I was so sorry to hear the sad news about his passing. This must be a very difficult period, and I wish all of you my sincere condolences. I watched the funeral online, and it was certainly a very special service, with beautiful music. His many friends appreciate what a wonderful person he was, and his life was a real blessing. I will always remember his tremendous knowledge and caring attitude, which made him welcome everywhere he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. It is a very sad time when such a loss occurs, but we'll hope for better things to come.

I truly appreciated knowing Ed. We worked together on the board for the St Basil 's Foundation. We were grateful for his participation in the work of the Board and for his donations to the Foundation. While I was rector of the Church of St Mary Magdalene he gave a donation our then building fund which we really appreciated. I offer our condolences for a good man whose life and work helped our society and the work of the Church. The Rev'd Canon Harold Nahabedian

My condolences to Marsha Jackson, to Valerie, and to the Jackman family and to Father Edward's many friends and colleagues. I first met Father Edward at a Graduate Luncheon of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, in 1983 when Father Edward was a Graduate Member of the Tau Kappa (U of T) Chapter, as was his cousin and good friend J. Alex Langford. I last saw Father Edward at the Celebration of Life for Alex two summers ago. Along the way, I learned that beyond the scope of Father Edward's interests, passions and generosity, was his desire to look for, to find, and to celebrate the best in whomsoever he knew and worked with. His interest in history, whether of his family, his community, the arts, or the Church in its many forms was a jovial acceptance of our strengths, our faults, and our shared mortality. Father Edward, you were dearly loved, and as they say in theatre, that's a tough act to follow. Godspeed, Father Edward.

I knew Father Ed for 39 years. He was my Renaissance Prince, my greatest benefactor, who opened the door for me to pursue a career in Catholic Church History in Ontario and to take different leadership roles in the Canadian Catholic Historical Association. He was a generous and steadfast friend. He was also a good listener. I have nothing but happy memories of our time together at CCHA conferences, book launches, dinners, special historical occasions and his visits to our home in Leamington and then in Welland and our family visits to his home in Kleinburg. It was always a joy to be with him. I bless and honour the man who did so much for so many. Rest in peace, Ed.

On behalf of The Canadian Council of Churches we extend our condolences to the family and friends of the Rev. Fr. Ed Jackman. Fr. Jackman was a dedicated and generous supporter of The Canadian Council of Churches. I had the good fortune of connecting with Fr. Jackman when Toronto hosted the 2018 Parliament of World Religions. Fr. Jackman’s interest and support for Canadian ecumenical and interfaith initiatives was always inspiring and practically helpful. We are grateful to God for his life and witness.

I was very sad to learn of the passing of Fr. Ed. I have known him since the early 1980s when he encouraged and supported my research on the early history of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association. He was always kind and generous to so many individuals and organizations in family history, genealogy and scholarly history to mention only a few areas that captured his attention and interest. Fr. Ed's presence will be missed by many, but his spirit will remain with his numerous friends and acquaintances for a long time to come. I am so grateful to have known him, I will hold dear his memory.

My sympathy to the Jackman family at Fr Ed Jackman's passing. I met Ed at UCC. He was very helpful much later to Church Alive's publication Theological Digest & Outlook, of which I was once editor. I was delighted to see him in one of UCC's posts of Old Boys not long ago. May he rest in peace and may Light perpetual shine upon him.

To the family of Reverend Jackman, On behalf of the Don Wright Faculty of Music, I extend our deepest sympathies. I was fortunate to get to know Reverend Jackman during my tenure as dean with our last 'visit' just over a week ago via Zoom. His passion for the arts, in particular opera, and his wide range of interests led to many interesting conversations, typically over a meal. His loss will be felt by many. Thoughts and prayers are with each of you–Betty Anne Younker (Dean, Don Wright Faculty of Music, The University of Western Ontario).

I learned today that Fr Ed Jackman died last Friday. I met Fr Ed when I was invited to join the editorial board of the CHHA's journal HISTORICAL STUDIES. I was always impressed with his devotion to history and his generosity towards those who served on the editorial board. I have not been an active member for a few years due to my own health issues.
I was grateful for his acceptance of me as a member of the board.....I recall his saying when I gave him a sketch of my academic background which included two degrees from US schools, "I like Americans!"
I am so sorry that he will no longer walk among us but I do hope that his commitment to the researching and writing of history will continue to animate the CHHA.
Farewell Fr Ed and thank you for all that you did for the CHHA,
Elizabeth McGahan

Rest in peace my friend. I first met Father Ed 38 years ago. We had many lively discussions on numerous topics. As an Archivist I helped in his research. We worked together on our family history but in the end we shared a name but not a lineage. We were both converts to different religious doctrines but always found a common ground. He was generous, supportive and encouraging. I will miss his wit and laughter and regret we lost contact over the years.
