I am still shocked by Susan’s death. My heart felt condolences to her dear husband Mike and dear sister Marry Jean. Susan was such a pretty lady I remember her every day. I am missing her sweet voice and great conversations we had.

Susan was one of the kindest people I had ever worked with. I had the privilege of knowing her when I worked at the Trademarks Office. She was always very supportive and encouraging in my career. A beautiful soul. I will never forget her.

Susan and I were students together in the journalism program at Carleton University in Ottawa the mid-1970s. We became closer friends in third year when I moved to a new apartment and found myself living just two floors below her. Mike had left the program to pursue his passion for flying, becoming a bush pilot based in Fort Simpson, NWT. Susan was 20 years old and she was very much in love with him. In my sadness at her loss, I am comforted by the knowledge that they remained devoted to each other for 45 years.

Donald and I were shocked to hear this sad news. Our family has known Michael’s family since just after the War ended when our fathers flew together for the RCAF. We have kept in touch on the main events happening in each others lives.
My parents really liked Susan. We sure had a laugh when we found out Susan’s cat was named “Arthur” which was the same name as my father. Michael sent me the attached photo of Susan and my father in deep discussion at a dinner party. I last saw Susan in 2015 and we had a great chat. She was so easy to talk to and interested in everything.
My heartfelt condolences, Michael, Susan’s family and friends.

I joined the Trade-mark Office in 1995 and stayed until my retirement in 2009. At the time, I was one of the first people hired as a Trade-marks Examiner, from outside the Department. Sue was my supervisor and made me feel welcome and supported me while I "learned the ropes." We became friends and had many enjoyable talks about a variety of subjects. I missed her when she went to Toronto. The news of her passing came as a shock and we want to pass on our condolences to Mike, Mary Jane and the rest of the family. Sue was one of the good ones!

I’m so sorry to learn that Susan has passed away. I knew her from the trademark office in Hull where she worked for the government and I worked for a trademark search firm and later, a law firm. I remember her spontaneous laugh, her stories of her cat Arthur, who had a penchant for ruining her bath mats and I remember her sense of fashion and her love of all things Ralph Lauren.
My sincere condolences to Mike and her family.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Stecyk

Thank you very much, Jennifer. Arthur was her devoted companion for 14 years. If I had a rival, it was that little rascal!

Jennifer. I don't know why my response to your generous words appear below Gail's tribute, but there they are!
