Mrs. Pluck was my elementary school teacher back in the 70s. I struggled in school back in those days, but she stuck with me giving me different learning strategies that made school easier. But the biggest thing she gave me was confidence and advocacy when I needed it most! Thank you Mrs. Plock (you will always have that name to me). My condolences to her children and family. The world has lost a good one!

Dear Sean, Christopher, and Sarah,
Janet was an extremely thoughtful, caring, and generous person. She offered to help my brother and I, as children, with our struggles in mathematics. I always remember her kind and calm demeanor as a teacher and family friend. She inspired me to become a teacher and after reading the other comments, I hope to inspire and touch the lives of others in such a positive way as she did.
Janet was a very good friend to her cousin, and my grandfather,r Jos Guest. She was a great comfort and tremendous support both to him and his wife Hannah when he was going through his surgery and treatment for cancer.
Janet recently sent my new born daughter numerous books that would inspire a love for reading! She mentioned how she picked them out from her own personal library. We will cherish the forever. My mother has also saved the books that Janet gave to her as a child.
We wish we had more time with her and we will cherish the memories we do have. We are so sorry for your loss.
Love,
Lauren, Thomas, and Kathleen Guest

Janet and I met a few years ago at Fairlwan United Church Bridge lessons ... later joining others at Janet's home for friendly Bridge. Janet and I very much enjoyed other similar interests together - New Zealand where Janet stayed with my mother on 2 of her many visits to my country ... Toronto Mendelssohn Singsations where we pretended to sing in the alto section followed by a long lunch at Yonge/St Clair ... visits in Janet's garden .... dinners outside or at a nearby pub ... Janet patiently teaching me to understand the stock market ... shopping for the new kitchen refridgerator ... I am so sorry for the great loss she will be to her family and many friends. Good times with a truly good friend. I will always remember.

Janet was such a beautiful free spirit. Janet and I had so much in common and she was always there for my family and I. As well as being my neighbour and my friend, my mother Doris Clark had worked with Janet at York Mills Public School. She was the most active, enthusiastic woman and I really looked up to her and admired her greatly. My children Jennifer, Stephanie and Mark Weese loved her too. She was kind and compassionate and we will miss her terribly, but I will always have a special place in my heart for Janet.. Love and prayers to Sean, Chris and Sarah. You're mother was a beautiful gem, and she will always shine brightly in our hearts.

Dear Sean, Chris and Sarah,
I was so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. It was only a few months ago that I saw her walking on Yonge Street near Loblaws. I was driving at the time so I couldn’t stop to say hello. I wish I had. She looked spry and exactly how she always looked to me. A familiar face from my childhood.
I first met your mom when my family moved on to Deloraine Ave. It was 1968 and I was four.
Our block of Deloraine Ave. was full of kids. David Crombie (who became the mayor of Toronto in ‘72) and his family of three kids lived directly across from you. The Coffengs, The Andrews, The O’Neills, The Dixons. We were a tight knit community. We played in each other’s backyards, our parents babysat each other’s kids, and we had block parties together. I even remember being at your beautiful cottage with some other Deloraine families.
Chris and I were in the same kindergarten class at John Wanless. We were playmates and I remember spending time in the sunroom of your home, playing with wooden toys and eating snacks together. Your mom was a teacher, like my mom, and she had that certain quality that teachers have. She was nurturing and calm and she obviously understood children very well.
She introduced us to a new television show for kids. It was called, “Sesame Street”.
When I was in grade 1 or 2, I went to “call on” Chris one day. Mrs. Plock, your mom, had a rule that Chris could only have one friend over at a time. When I knocked on the side door – the door that we always used – Chris told me, to my dismay, that he already had a friend over, and I had to leave. To that I responded, “I’ll go, but first you gotta kiss me!”. I walked the short distance home to where my own mother was waiting for me. I asked her something and she answered, “Okay, but first you gotta kiss me”. As it turned out, your mom had overheard everything through the window, and called my mom to tell her how I coquettishly responded to Chris!
Your mom had an impact on my childhood, and I remember her lovingly. You are lucky to have had her for your mother. May her memory be a blessing.
With my heartfelt condolences,
Cathie Ring

To Sean, Christopher, Sarah and Janet's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren,
We send you our condolences at this time. Janet was always such a lovely person. Looking back on our times together when we lived on Deloraine Avenue. Thinking about conversations, street festival activities and potlucks. Janet was always involved and fun to be with. She was blessed to have children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.
She will surely be missed.

Janet my dear and cherished friend of 29 years. Though we only met once a year, what great adventures we shared and what fond memories I will have of those adventures. “The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes” and you. Heaven has no idea what is in store with your arrival. Your life “a tour de force,” filled with love, family, friends, travel, learning, teaching, inspiring, escapades, risk, new experiences and more love. Erwin McManus said, “ A life well lived is the most exquisite work of art.” Your life was an exquisite work of art and I am blessed to have been a part of its journey. I will miss you. Much love until we meet again. xxx Paula

Janet was a beautiful, kind, loving friend to our family. She will be missed but her kind, gracious spirit never forgotten. We were blessed to live across the street for many years and it will not be the same. She spent so much time helping our lad with his lessons but more importantly with his life. We send our love to the family and your mum will be in our hearts always. Ian, Anton and Diane

I have such fond memories of Janet. She was a wonderful selfless person. As a young boy I struggled with reading at school. Janet gave up her lunch hours for many weeks to teach me how to read. Without her help I would never have become proficient at reading.
Many years later after Janet had retired our son was struggling with school. Janet offered to teach him during the summer months. She made such a difference in him. She had a very unique way of connecting with people and adjusted her teaching style to get the most out of her students.
Janet always saw the good in everyone and had such a positive outlook on life. She has been a part of my families life and a dear friend to my Mother and Father since childhood. We will all miss her

It is very hard to imagine Janet gone from this world. Forever young at heart, Janet always impressed me with her exuberance and style (she always had the best eyewear!). I most often saw her when at family gatherings, where her delight in her family was palpable. We send our heartfelt condolences to you all. We love you, Christopher, Anindita, Aidan and Andrew ❤️❤️❤️ and mourn with you in your great loss. Rachel, Dave, Clara and Isla.
