I read your memorial in the Globe and Mail today, and was inspired enough by Grace's beautiful smiling photo with an animal to google her name and find her obituary. I know you are struggling through a difficult time, and I can't imagine the loss. But please know I was touched and smiling reading her full obituary and learning about her amazing accomplishments and care for others. She was clearly a beautiful soul, who brought joy and peace to so many others, including animals. I particularly smiled reading about her love of basset hounds - they are indeed the sweetest! I will take what you wrote to heart, and make sure to thank others, tip generously, and do my best to be as kind a soul as she was. Dear Constance, Dana, Sasha, Alice, and Norah, I was so saddened to hear of Grace’s passing. I had the privilege and honour of teaching Grace in her Grade 12 year at BSS. Grace always came to our World History classes with a smile on her face, and she was always ready and willing to engage in deep discussions. She was such a diligent student who cared about everything and who was so passionate about social justice issues. My heart and thoughts go out to you all. She will be missed.

I am a secretary at Mt. Allison and I just learned of Grace's passing and feel in shock. I am so saddened by this news. Grace was one of my favourite students (I’ve been here 15 years). I was always happy to see Grace and we had such lovely chats. To say she adored her family is an understatement. She used to tell me all about her visits home and after a while I felt like I knew her family a bit myself. I just felt like I had to let you know that Grace was such a special person, she had the ability to connect and was so genuine. She just seemed so wise beyond her years. She was very intuitive and caring, her smile and laugh really did brighten a room, that saying could have been coined for Grace alone. Grace was extraordinary and I know she was so loved. I am so sorry for your loss and for the loss of such an amazing person. Thank you for raising such a beautiful, caring soul. To be in her presence was a gift and a joy.

Dear Constance, Dana, Sasha, Alice, Eleanor, and all those who loved Grace
I only knew Grace as her dental hygienist but was always happy to see her name in my schedule. I remember with fondnesss our chats about politics, school, Christmastime, what movies she was going to watch with her dad and sisters, pets, and the liveliness of home, and of course doing little jobs for her mum (she loved her parents!)
My heart breaks for all of you.
I am blessed to have known her and watch her grow into a beautiful woman. Rest in peace, Grace.

Rob and I were heartbroken for your entire "patchwork family" to learn of your terrible loss with the passing of Grace. She clearly was a thoughtful and sensitive young woman with much to accomplish and experience in the world. We met her only a handful of times, but knew of your wonderful joint family adventures together and how much they bonded everyone, especially the young cousins. We also knew of her summer job offer in Yellowstone and so admired her intrepid spirit. Her obituary told us of her kind and loving heart, and the compassion she had for others. You are all very much in our thoughts at this very sad time.

Dear Constance, when Tracey shared the news about Grace and I read her beautiful obituary I had several thoughts. She sounds like a remarkable young woman who had a life filled with love both from others and her own love for the many people in her life and outside of it. My husband and I read Grace's obituary in today's Globe & Mail and it moved us to tears. My heart breaks for your family. We don't know Grace but our 18-yr-old son, Jack, has lived with a severe form of epilepsy since age 2.
Grace's kindness, empathy, and gentle spirit can be felt in her smile and in the words you shared. Our son shares similar traits and I wonder if living with challenges make you a better human for others and the rest of the world.
I know there is nothing that I can say that can make a dent in your pain and can only say that I hope it brings you a tiny bit of comfort to know that others are thinking of your family. I have clipped Grace's obituary and we will hold her, and your family, in our hearts.

My heart wept this morning as I read this obit.
I did not know Grace or her family. I am a complete stranger.
But as I read her obit, I felt like I knew her, and am most grateful to her family for sharing her story so eloquently.
It is unspeakably sad when a bright and young light such as Grace's is suddenly extinguished. One struggles so. The grief and sorrow that surround such a profound loss make it so difficult to understand its meaning.
But from Grace's story, my sense is she would not want us - those close to her heart, and those, like me, who did not know her - to stay in such darkness. She would want everyone to cherish the light she brought into so many lives, the values and causes that she embraced so strongly and the the courage she demonstrated so clearly throughout her short journey.
I have many Graces in my life - my children, my late parents, and my friends. Grace would want me to cherish them all, as I do.
May it help you in some small way to know that even people like me, who never knew her, are deeply moved by her story.
And may her angels embrace and support you.
