While perusing through memorablia I came across some souvenir of Springdale N-L 1962...
I thought of Roger and came across this obituary; sorry to have not made contact earlier.
My condolences to family and close ones,
My first contact with R.K,W. was as an 18-year old grunt working for Hunting Survey Corp. on IP surveys in Gaspe and in Newfoundland, summer 1962.
Then as an operator with Huntec Corp. in Marathon and Timmins ON. and Pine Point N.W.T. in 1963-1964.
Further associations through 1965-66 period...
Good memories of "l'Hirondele" (his Porsche) and mentions of "Go-Home-Dome".
He had me guessing for a whole summer about the "K" which finally was revealed to be "Knox"
Thanks for the memories Roger; may you rest in peace...

I had the pleasure of working with Roger throughout his career in Geophysics and with Marcus at Aerodat. Roger had an infectious smile that always made me smile. He was a pleasure to work with.
My deepest condolences to his family and many friends.

I met Roger nearly 40 years ago when my geophysicist husband brought him home for ... something geophysical survey-related.
Although I did not know him well, I saw him every year or two & he was unfailingly kind & interested [in my life, kids, whatever].
More than 25 years ago, my news for Roger was that we were moving; he asked where & when I told him, he laughed and told me he grew up just a couple of blocks from our new house.
A couple of years later, I researched & wrote about our new neighbourhood, "Bracondale Hill" [just north of Davenport & Christie]. We invited Roger for the afternoon and dinner; he re-visited his old stomping grounds, regaled us with neighbourhood stories and shared several old B&W photographs. I remember one was of his mother, sitting on the front porch of their Bracondale Hill Road home, holding baby Roger [Patrick standing nearby]. It was a very nice Sunday spent with him :)
Roger was a lovely man; it was my pleasure to have known him even slightly.

Sending our heartfelt condolences to family and friends of my great uncle Roger. Roger's ever-present smile, curiosity, warmth and humour were palpable throughout my knowing of him. Though we saw him less frequently in recent years, we always picked up quickly remembering favourite times at family Christmas parties in my youth and hearing updates of his genealogical journeys with my grandma / his sister Mary. I'm so sorry he is gone but so very, very grateful to have walked on earth at the same time as he. With loving condolences from Molly, Andrew and Celeste.

Thinking of your journey today, the lyrical poem of this song wilI I hope be a comfort to you :
THERE WAS A BOY, A VERY STRANGE ENCHANTED BOY
THEY SAY HE WANDERED VERY FAR, VERY FAR
OVER LAND AND SEA
A LITTLE BOY, AND SAD OF EYE
BUT VERY WISE WAS HE........
AND THEN ONE DAY, ONE LUCKY DAY HE CAME MY WAY
AND WHEN WE TALKED OF MANY THINGS, FOOLS AND KINGS
THIS HE SAID TO ME !
THE GREATEST THING YOU’LL EVER LEARN
IS TO LOVE..........AND TO LOVE
IN RETURN !
You and Roger found this to be TRUE in your lives together.
Enjoy that thought today. You both are in my heart!
As ever. Jim

Roger's infectious smile will be missed. He always had an interesting story about his days testing Huntec geophysical equipment in the early '60s or other geophysical adventure. He was a true explorationist with his ability to apply the theory to the practical case and hence was successful in the mapping and delineation of mineral deposits, most notably in the Pine Point camp in the NWT. I was fortunate to be able to work with him at PGW and subsequently as our consulting paths crossed numerous times in later years. A couple of photos of Roger from his PGW days.

So sorry to hear about Roger’s passing. Although I was a graduate of the geophysics class of 1958, I never worked in the field, so I am not well known in geophysics circles..
The last time we met was at the 50th class reunion in 2008.
My condolences to the family. He will be missed.
