GERARD JESSO
1931 – 2021

On Sunday, February 21, 2021 with his loving wife and daughters by his side, Gerard “Gerry” Jesso passed away after a long battle with kidney failure and dementia. He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years Maria Jesso; his loving daughters Lisa (Boyd) Dyer and Tina Jesso (Casey Marquis); and his adoring grandchildren Sierra and Aidan Dyer. He also leaves behind his two brothers; Con (Viola) Jesso of Port au Port East, Nfld. and Eddy (Beulah) Jesso of Kippens, Nfld.; two sisters; Maureen Jesso of Stephenville, Nfld., Rona Rowe of Sheaves Cove, Nfld.; and sister-in-law Ann Marie Jesso. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Harmony Jesso; his four brothers Elie, Bernard, Clayton and Lambert "Bert" Jesso; and his two sisters Mazie Benoit and Riza Matthews.

Gerry was born in Newfoundland and at a young age he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was based in Germany for several years. During his time in the Air Force, he enjoyed travelling the world and learning different skills along the way. After the Air Force, he moved to Toronto and worked at Royal LePage where he met his wife Maria. He then became the property manager at a building in Thorncliffe Park up until his retirement in 2004.

Gerry and Maria were married in 1972. They had a very loving relationship and were always together on road trips or picnics in the parks. Shortly after marriage, they welcomed their two daughters whom he adored and loved to make happy - whether it was taking them on shopping, fishing and camping trips or playing games - he loved being with his family. He was a great husband and father. He loved his grandkids, whether it was playing with them or picking them up from school, he always enjoyed spending time with them.

Gerry was a great carpenter and built a few houses in Newfoundland and could pretty much fix anything you put in front of him. He also loved animals, always stopping to pet or point out a cute dog or help an animal in need. Gerry was an overall hard worker, easy-going, funny and loving family man that will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

We will forever be grateful to all the people who helped Gerry over the years, especially his wife Maria who gave him the absolute best care and kept him well for so long. His doctors Dr. Chow, Dr. Fraser, Dr. Silverman and the staff at Mount Sinai Hospital Dr. Arvanitis and Sami, and the lovely PSW from Central LHIN Josephine.

A private family service will be held due to covid-19 restrictions. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Toronto Humane Society, The Kidney Foundation or Princess Margaret Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

Rest in peace dear husband and father, your sweethearts will miss you.
