Condolences to Susan, Donny, Allison and your families for the immense loss of Uncle Bill, aka 'Whitey', 'The Dancing Bear', 'Santa', and 'McWhitey', an honorary member of the the McMurray family. As our Dad's best buddy, he was a fixture in our lives and memories of their antics will never fade! The two of them are undoubtedly hoisting a cold one together on the veranda in the sky!

I have only good memories of Bill, beginning when he made me welcome to Scarboro in 1974. Over the ensuing years Val and I enjoyed playing golf and spending time with Mary and Bill. His recital of the stammering bible seller was always a highlight of the past directors dinner. He was still charming everyone around when I saw him at Sunnybrook a while back. We are all heart broken to hear of Uncle Bill's passing. Your family has meant so much to our family over the years. Uncle Bill and Aunt Mary were always so kind to all of us. We will be forever grateful for their (and your) love and compassion. Uncle Bill was the MC at our wedding in 1990 and he did a magnificent job. Aunt Mary had pictures of our wedding in our hands before the reception even started. At the time, I didn't even know that was possible lol. We also remember how much joy they had seeing our boys. So much love. Uncle Bill holds a very special place in our hearts and we have nothing but wonderful memories of him and your family. Uncle Bill made a difference. A life well lived. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, Donnie, Sue, Allison, Kristin and Martin.

Doug, Kurt and I send our deepest condolences from the west coast. Uncle Bill held a very special place in my heart, and I will always be grateful for his love and kindness. I tell Kurt that every kid needs a Whiteside family.....a place where you know you are welcome anytime. I would go on summer getaways with the Whitie’s, sleep over most weekends, and was always included in their family gatherings. In high school, Ally and I switched houses for one week - she moved in with my family, and I with hers.... I recall being happy to sit with my uncle Bill in the living room, while he enjoyed happy hour. Speaking of which, Ally and I owe BBB a fair amount of booze! Uncle Bill made me feel special, and that continued into my adulthood. He taught me about kindness and the importance of community. I will always cherish my Uncle Bill, and feel grateful for my memories. RIP Uncle Bill.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Whiteside family on the loss of a wonderful man. “Billy” as he was affectionately known as to all at Scarboro Golf and Country Club was always cheerful and greeted everyone with a smile. He never missed an opportunity to support the Club whether playing Santa Claus for the kids or serving up mimosas in full tuxedo for the annual Champagne Open. We will miss his gentle and kind spirit. Grateful to have known him, John Thompson & Karen Fraser

I am sorry to hear of your father’s death. I remember him and your mother so well. When Carole and I moved into Esquire Road home we got to know them so well and appreciate the time we spent in their company and to watch their children grow up and become as pleasant as they were. Carole passed away in August, 2018 and always enjoyed seeing your parents

Sending condolences to Donny, Susan and Allison and your families. I remember many, many years ago when I was in my twenties and I campaigned with your dad for Heart and Stroke. We would call on homes and neighbours around Commons and Dobbin and we would undoubtedly have me laughing with his stories. I will treasure these times and think back in his huge smile and jolly laugh. RIP Mr. Whiteside you will be missed.

Condolences to Susan, Don and Allison, Your Dad was a beautiful soul and Bob and I will miss him. We had a very nice visit with him coming to our cottage five years ago and bringing me flowers, always so thoughtful Lots of good laughs that I will always remember, him having a T .shirt made for me saying, no early T.Times a joke we shared. RIP Black Bear - you may be gone but never forgotten. Love Bob and Elayne Acton.
