Dear Marion,
On such a sad day wishing your dear Jim goodbye, I wanted to send you our condolences. The memorial service was loving, toughing and very respectful, Jim would be happy to know that he was held so dear by so many near and far. Our thoughts and hearts are with you during this difficult time, Jim was special in your life and he touched many throughout his long and successful career.
The memorial service today brought back memories of the many years Jim and I spent travelling, the challenges overcome and the enjoyments taken, for which Jim always made time, are happy memories.
How he enjoyed different foods in different cultures, I recall a memorable, one of many, “scarfing” soused herring accompanied with Akvavit in Malmo, Sweden and crayfish in Copenhagen while our guests looked on suspiciously. How Jim would bring tears of laughter to your eyes with his enjoyment for life.
Let the happy memories you both shared and the knowledge of friendships built be a consolation in the years ahead.
Our condolences and sympathies to you and to Jim’s extended family.
Sincerely,
Therese and Frank Borkenhagen

Our dearest Marion, Gabriele and I offer our sincere condolences you and the family at Jim’s passing. It is hard to believe that so many years have passed since we first met in 1988 when we for business reasons, we came to Toronto from Sydney and although only there for 3 years, we cherish the friendship and fond memories we have of those times we had together, times which developed way beyond those 3 years in Canada; our fishing trips to BC, your joining us in the UK, Glen Eagles, Scotland and Philadelphia. But, you never made it to Australia! How could we ever forget our trip to Philadelphia in a snow storm to attend what we thought was a traditional Christmas carols church service. Jim and Marion were seated a few pews in front of us and following a few non traditional carol chantings, Jim turned his head, looked straight at me and if looks could kill; well! None the less with refreshments, we did have a great weekend. But the joy he displayed when we first met Joyce as a young girl, and he proudly said, you have to listen to her play the piano, showed that for a big guy, leader of a large successful insurance broking organisational, pillar of strength in the business community, he was really quite mushy inside. That moment was priceless. Thanks Jim, you will for ever be an important part of lives. God bless, Rest In Peace.
With love Alan & Gabriele

Dear Marion and Family,
Sid and I wish to extend our sincere condolences to Marion and all of Jim’s treasured family at this sorrowful time. We had the privilege of knowing Jim over the last 20 years and were able to hear firsthand wonderful stories relating to his beloved family and brilliant business career. We know his family, his children and grand children particularly, were a deeply meaningful part of his life and always in his thoughts and in everything he did. We hope the family will cherish, as we do, the many happy memories we have from time with him. Jim was a real leader, living life as it should be with honesty, loyalty and integrity to his family, friends, business associates and all those he encountered in his varied interests. His steadfast, fun-loving, appreciative nature and personal generosity towards everyone are a great legacy. He will be truly missed but remembered with joy.
Sincerely,
Sid and Janet Lindsay

Marion and family. So sorry for your loss especially during these unprecedented times. Jim was a very kind, generous man, he always made people feel special, and I loved hearing his stories. He would always ask how I was doing and if there was ever anything he could help with not to hesitate to call him. He will be dearly missed. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Keep your memories close to your heart! Always Pat and Bob Taylor
