For my sons Douglas and David Stoddard, Rob McKellar was our security blanket! Always available for support and never ending medical attention and never ending care! He would show up at our front door with his medical bag in hand unexpectedly when he
knew we were in need. Rob was there for me when both my parents were ill and eventually passed away. We could always
count on him for never-ending support.
And then there was Rob Mckellar who loved music and enjoyed spending time with is friends and I was blessed to be one of them.
Rest In Peace dear friend, you contributed so much to us all. See you on the other side!
Love Nejla Botrie

I was a patient of Dr. McKellar from his days at Beech Clinic until my last appointment three days before his retirement, a few months short of 50 years. He took my mother Norma Lang on as a new patient when she was 78, until her death at 94.
My Mom soon felt the sense of total trust and confidence in Dr. McKellar that I did. We knew that he always listened. He never dismissed a concern, or gave up on a diagnosis and treatment that would give help. Although I understood the reasons for his retirement, he left such a large empty space in my life.
My sincerest sympathy to his family – you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Pat Van Langenhove
Dr. McKellar took me on when I married Pat, and I was his patient for about 20 years. Great doctor, great diagnostician, terrific dry sense of humour – I’ve always been sorry I wasn’t able to get to know him better on a personal basis.
Sympathy to all his family and friends on your loss. I’m sure you have lots of wonderful memories of him to help you through this difficult time.

My wife and I were saddened to learn that Bob Mckellar has died .I first met Bob when he worked in the Emergency Department in the Toronto East General Hospital in the 1960’s. I was impressed by his medical knowledge and his clear headed decision making.
Later he became our family doctor. This was a great privilege when I had open heart surgery. I was feeling depressed . However, Bob made a house all and lifted my spirits.
In recent years he was clearly in pain as he went about ministering to
his patients. We were sorry to see him retiring, but we knew that it was the best for him.

We would like to thank both Drs. McKellar & McCurrach for the wonderful medical care they provided to our family for 45+ years. Upon learning of Dr McKellar's passing, we felt as if we had just lost a close family member. Words cannot express how much we all appreciated the care, time and patience he extended to each of us and to our Mom until her passing. There will never be another Dr. R.G. McKellar. Thank you and R.I.P.

I am a former patient of Dr. McKellar's. He provided me with exceptional care during my teenage years, my first pregnancy and subsequent birth of my daughter. He often went above and beyond the call of duty, making house calls, at all hours of the day and night, including weekends! I could never believe how fortunate we (my grandparents, parents, sisters and their extended families) were in having Dr. McKellar as our family Doctor! He will be sadly missed and remembered with great fondness...

I fondly remember sitting in Dr. McKellar's office since I was a 6 yr old and always looking forward to a quick catch-up chat. For the next 47 years I visited Dr. Mckellar's office and I always enjoyed our quick catch-up chat.
My mom was a single, working mother. Dr. McKellar was always available for a house call when my brother or I were ill. He never said no to my mom. As I grew older I never forgot that gesture of care and how it made my mom feel.
My condolences to the McKellar Family.

When you needed a Doctor, Robert McKellar was a wonderful person to visit.
His skill and dedication to our health care lasted for over 35 years.
Robert’s attention to my wife helped her to survive her cancer diagnosis for 37 years.
Never again will I find another doctor whose waiting room was filled with the sounds of the “Great American Songbook.”
I extend my condolences and share my sadness with Justin, Ashley, Fiona, and Hayden.

Rob was my family doctor for years when I lived in East York, from the time I was about 5 until 22...a lot of years to get to know a person through the changing eyes of a growing boy. Dedicated, concerned, and available best describes Rob. We use to play a game where I would judge his mood by the amount of pain his needles caused. Good mood-needle was painless. Bad mood-needle hurt. Usually, we would laugh that he was in bad mood, though of course, he never was.
Doctors like Rob are rare. As one myself, I can say this with an 'insider's' view of things. He never seemed to be in it for any other reason but the care of his patients. As the years went by, and I had occasion to deal with Rob professionally, and not just as a former patient, this view only grew stronger.
RIP Dr. McKellar...God knows you deserve the rest!
Your former patient, and colleague, Douglas Stoddard.

Dr. McKellar and my family became friends thanks to Hayden. It was amazing to have a local McKellar contact for my family-history-buff dad. Then, a wonderful bonus when Dr. Rob quickly became a trusted family doctor and also a great friend. He will be missed and remembered fondly. Sending our condolences and love.

Dr. McKellar was a treasured member of our family team. Upon his retirement I told him that I owe our parents longevity (ages 93 and 96) to his extraordinary care. From my Grandmother, to my parents, to ourselves, and from the birth of my sons to their adulthood, Dr. McKellar has been trusted implicitly. He would always find a spot in his busy schedule to see any of us promptly. His diagnoses and followup care were exemplary. Our family recalls one of many house calls; this one to my grandmother Ellen. She naively inquired "so you make house calls?", to which he quipped "what do you think this is?!!" In the years to come, there were house visits to our sons when young, and more recently to my Mom and Dad at during various post surgeries and other geriatric issues. He would pop by, often unannounced, just to check in on them. His fondness for them was abundantly evident, as it was for our whole extended family. On Sunday when I saw his obituary and shared it with family, a sombre mood fell over our family as we reflected on the meaning Dr. McKellar has had throughout our lives. As son Conor has already posted, we hope his family is aware of how thoroughly valued and appreciated Dr. McKellar has been and can take comfort in how many lives he enriched with his expertise and compassion. He was one in a million. Wendy

I am a 3rd generation Dr. McKellar patient. I can't adequately describe the level of care that Dr. McKellar provided to my family. From being the only doctor I had since I was a baby, to making house calls to my grandparents' place, he was always there for us. My family has benefitted countlessly from Dr. McKellar's care and medical opinions, delivered in his signature "no nonsense" manner. My condolences to his family, whom I hope can take some comfort in the great human impact he had as a doctor.

Our sincerest sympathy to your family on the loss of this wonderful man. His deeply personal care and support of our entire family will forever be remembered with much love and gratitude. We so much enjoyed his company here for dinners, unfortunately not as frequent these past few years, and we felt privileged to be included as his friends. We hope to raise a glass with you to him at some point when conditions allow.

Dr. Bob will be greatly missed by my family. He was not only our neighbor but was our family physician for as long as as the McKellar's have lived in Bennington Heights. I will be eternally grateful to him for the care he took of my two elderly parents stopping in to see them every other Sunday. But it not just his kindness that I will remember but rather his great wit. During those visits my Mother would not always take kindly to his advise but he always delivered his message with humor. Bob made me laugh when I would run into him on the street and I would look forward to those chats as part of a visit with my parents. We were very lucky to have had him in our lives and my condolences to Hayden, Ashley, Justin and of course the wonderful Anne.
Much Love,
Hilary Springfield

Dr. McCurrach and family,
Dr. McKellar will be greatly missed by us and always be remembered for his devotion to our family. He took over Dr. McLean's practice across the street from my parents home, (Chris and Pauline Stavro), on O'Connor Dr. From that day forward he looked after us untill he retired. It was a life time of care and service. Home visits went by the way side for many doctors but not for Dr. McKellar! We called, he came, a devoted doctor to the end. So appreciative of all his efforts in the past. When asked why he was retiring he answered, "not by choice". That said it all, the man we knew for over 50 years.
Remembering Dr. McKellar, our sincere condolences.
Respectfully,
Pauline Stavro,
Dennis and Elizabeth Goushleff,
Valerie Stavro.

Rob was one of my close friends growing up in Halifax. We attended LeMarchant School together in those early years. I remember just getting together after school, and attending birthday parties at his house. His parents were always very attentive to all of us friends, and wonderful hosts. Rob and his family moved back to Britain before the rest of us moved on to Junior High, so I lost track of him. I wish I had known he was back in Toronto. I would have tried to get in touch with him again. Rob had a great sense of humour. I'm proud to say he was a close friend. He was a special guy! Jack Adams

My sincere condolences to Dr. McKellar's entire family. I was extremely saddened to hear of Dr. McKellar's passing. He was my doctor for over 35 years. I will never find another doctor who I trust as much with my health. He found cancer at its earliest stages which I will be forever grateful. He would even come to my home sometimes when he knew I wasn't well, without being asked. He supported me when my sister passed. He was just a very professional, caring person with a wonderful sense of humour. He will be truly missed.

What a great family doctor. Dr. Bob, as we called him, was a careful and observant doctor. He would always ask the questions to find out the symptoms behind the symptoms you told him about. He had no use for the people who diagnosed themselves via Mr. Google and then told him what was wrong with them. His response - who is the doctor here? Rest in well-deserved peace Dr. Bob.

We were very sad to read of Dr. McKellar’s passing in the paper this morning. He was our family physician from 1975 until we moved from Toronto in 2014. Almost 40 years of meticulous care and caring for the health of us and our two children, Sarah and Trevor. I doubt that we will ever find another family doctor as special as he was. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.

I am so very sorry to hear of Dr. McKellar's passing. My entire family members were patients of Dr. McKellar's for over 35 years. He was an especially wonderful person and excellent family doctor. There was never any issue too trivial or of little consequence that he would not address and remedy. I was very fortunate to be able to tell him just how much his care and attention was appreciated at his office retirement party back in the fall of 2018. Even though the champagne and laughs were flowing, there was not a dry eye in the house. Rest in peace my dear friend. Sincerely, Deborah Bernardi
