I first met Dr. Betty Roots when she visited Sault Ste. Marie with a mutual friend. I came to learn early on, about her love for the little green amphibian. It was such fun to find her little items over the years, that delighted her. Betty was a strong advocate for Sault Ste. Marie and on once occasion, she literally "got into it" when visiting our tourist attraction - the Bushplane Museum. These photos are from August 2004. My deepest sympathy to all of her friends and family, she will be missed everywhere!

Our very first contact with Betty was her phone call in 1993 about a museum trip to Egypt in 1994. This led to a treasured friendship, shared travel experiences on several continents, dinners at our homes (including a visit from Betsy who befriended a windup fuzzy penguin) and great conversations. Betty is very much missed, but the many good memories will stay with us.

They are both gone now. 2020 brought the loss of two dear friends Christine and Betty. Miss them both dearly. They spent a lot of time together and both loved their ShihTzu special friends Betsy and Zoey.

Ron and I really enjoyed Betty’s wry sense of humour always with a twinkle in her eye. She enjoyed a glass of wine with dinner & the company of her close friend’s.
To say she was an intrepid traveller and keen photographer would be an understatement. She enjoyed her camera club on Mt. Pleasant for years. I would often talk to her about it.
She came up to the lake and loved spending time by the water with all of us including Betsy and Shelby.
I had the pleasure of working with her to decorate her home on Broadway which I enjoyed enormously.
She was a guest at our intimate wedding and made friend’s with Ron’s family who sat beside her as she told them of her travels.
Betty lived an interesting full life and she will be missed by many.
