JAMES CORBETT posted a condolence

I was shocked and deeply saddened when I heard the news of Jim's sudden passing. I met him through the driving range and had wonderful conversations with this great common sense guy. If time could have permitted, we could have talked all day about a lot of good world common sense stuff. I will miss him. My sincere condolences to his family.

My family has been going to Jim’s Driving Range for the past couple of years. Jim was always so kind to my sons (ages 15 and 10), teasing them and making them laugh. My boys would try to hit the tractor cage of the ball catcher and Jim would drive near to us - taunting them with a big smile on his face. For the little that we knew Jim, he made a big impact on our lives...we will remember him fondly.

I only knew jim thru his driving range not far from whistlebare campground where we have our trailer. I brought my dad there one day who is suffering form dementia to hit some balls as golf was 99% of his life for over 65 years and couldnt go on a golf course anymore. I chatted with jim and mentioned he served in military for 25 years. Jim gave me a large basket for free and said i could hit some of them to. He even gave us a sheltered tee so my dad would not get too much sun. One time i went myself to hit some balls, but i had a sore shoulder and didnt know if i could hit balls. He gave me a small basket and said if i couldnt hit them to come back and he wouldnt charge me. Then the last time my dad went to hit balls with my sister and her husband he remembered my dad and gave him a free small basket. He was thoughtful and worked hard to make the range look as good as it did. I hope it falls into good hands to keep it going and jim will be missed by many.

I was one of the first people to visit his range when it opened. When we showed up, we asked Jim the cost for the two bucket of balls. He told us not to worry about it and just asked that we tell people about his range.
That's the kind of guy Jim was !
