I was fortunate to have Neil Watters as Chief of Surgery when I joined the staff as a surgeon at the Wellesley Hospital. Neil was a kind and supportive leader, who encouraged my early developing career. He was a skilled and precise surgeon, who commanded respect and silence in the operating room. He was an influential leader at the hospital and university, in medical education, and national surgical organisations.
Neil and Shelagh took an interest in our developing family, and we enjoyed their support and hospitality at their house in our neighbourhood and at their farm.
Frances and I send our condolences to Neil's family, and are sad that such a fine surgeon and gentleman is no longer with us.
