Just found out about Michiko's passing. Her passing has come as a complete shock having hiked with her on so many occasions on the Bruce Trail and elsewhere.
Michiko was a lovely soul - quiet, unassuming, kind, gentle, yet strong and steadfast. Walking behind, in front or beside her generally elicited talk about the trails, her continuing pursuit of studies at York University, her regular returns to Japan, volunteering at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, and at times a request to translate Japanese terms that were beyond one's ken.
Michiko will be missed. More so her sweet smile and soft saunter down the road. Rest in Peace Michiko and Godspeed.
