It is with much sadness that I have just learnt of Paul’s passing. Paul was one of my best friends having started together as Student Apprentices at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough UK in 1958. We completed our Aeronautical Engineering degrees together in1964. Paul was my best man when I married Bridget my wife in1965 and we continued to remain friends. Bridget and I have lovely memories of Paul and Jackie visiting us when they came over to the UK and they too were great hosts when we met up with them in Toronto. I shall always remember Paul’s razor sharp humour, which never diminished. In the early days we spent much time together watching Aldershot Town play football (you needed a sense of humour!) on Saturday’s at the ‘Rec’, after which I was often invited back to Paul’s house in Heath End, Farnham for his Mum to provide an evening meal, we usually finished the day going to a Jazz gig (Trad was the rage at that time).
Over the years Paul and I continued to keep in touch by phone/email talking football and putting the world to right. He never lost that humour. Bridget and I will will always remember him with fondness. Ted Payne, Fleet, England.
