We were long time friends and neighbours of the Gardners on Annesley Avenue. Cal was my Neighbourhood Watchman, checking in during the telephone outage following the Canada Wire fire. Mary was the Dispatcher and Safety Officer.
I would wonder why they would sit in the driveway on winter nights, car running. Terry explained that they were listening on the radio to Paul’s hockey games from Pittsburg.
Parishioners of St. Anselm would set their clocks by Cal and Mary strolling to Saturday 5pm mass, hand in hand.
Mary was very devout and knew all the channels for televised mass.
So many stories: raccoon in the living room, long dinners at Yeoman’s on Bayview, hockey trivia, health tips from Nurse Mary...
Our profound condolences to Dave, Paul and all the Grandkids. We grieve with you on the loss of your wonderful Mary.
