So sorry for the loss of your father. Karl will be held in the hearts of many friends, but particularly the Broadlands Carpet Bowling Groups. Karl was The Best. He loved the competition and he enjoyed the socializing. I can still recreate in my mind beautiful scenes from Slovenia just from your Dad’s travelogues after his many trips home.
Your dad liked to sit in a corner at carpet bowling, awaiting his turn to play. One particular happy memory of Karl was when I was skip for our team and he was sitting in the corner behind me. Someone had just delivered a particularly good ball and I said, “That’s the way I like it.”
From behind me I hear this deep musical voice: “Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh.”
Whoever would have guessed that proper gentleman Karl would know KC And The Sunshine Band! I’m still smiling and I will definitely drink a toast to Karl and his beloved Slovenia.
