I wondered why I had not heard from Mary Frances for some time and just now learned of her passing. In 1946 i was one of her 8 year old Inky campers at Camp Ahmek. She wrote to me in the Fall of that year after my parents noticed her cheerleader picture in one of the Hamilton newspapers and communicated with her. Her reply letter I have kept these many many years and in 2016 decided to see if I could find her. After some digging and thanks to the internet we reconnected after 70 years. My wife and I went to her LTC residence to have lunch with her - it was wonderful to reminisce. What a wonderful and gracious lady. In her letter she included a photo taken in 1946 at the camp, which I've attached.

For Peter, Mark, Susan and Jane from all the Deeks Family; you have our respect and sympathy in the loss of MF after a long and full life with Keith raising all of you to be the people you are. MF and Keith were very good friends and we worked together for some 40 years building Noranda into a world class Mining Company also sadly gone. Our recent times together have been an annual Noranda lunch at TGC which your Mother really loved because of all the happy memories it brought to us all. We are trying to organize a date this year and wanted so much to have MF with us. We had a lot of fun together. When Julie and I were moving to England in 1965, MF took me house hunting and one stop was at a somewhat dilapidated house occupied by the Hungarian Counsel being recalled. Looking at the master bedroom full of dirty laundry the Counsel's wife said when this is all cleaned up you and your wife will enjoy this big room. And I blurted out but we are not married and she said "who's to care"! Such is life! Then at your wedding, Jane, Lenore Beatty, one of MF';s best friends, said that MF was the most beautiful Bride ever and that you looked just like her! What a compliment!! And so from our Family to Yours. we are thinking of you all and hoping to see you as time goes by! Julie and Bill

We were very sorry to hear about the death of Mary Frances. She was such an elegant and gracious person.
She was the young first cousin to my father ( Stanley Gardner) and they liked each other very much. Our father went to law school in Toronto and had many Sunday dinners at the Stother's house.
Our condolences to all the Hendrick's family from the Gardner’s, Mary, Kay, Paul and Jo-Anne

We feel sorrow for this loss. My mother was classmate at U of T with Mary Frances in Household Science. They reconnected at Logan Lake. Today our families have rich interconnections across generations.
Mary Frances (and Kieth) were always warm and welcoming. The last time we were together out on the lake Claire took this picture. We see peace and tranquility in her, then and now.
Our sincere condolences to this wonderful family - (one of the BEST)

I was saddened today to read of the death of Mary Frances. My mind went back to when we met; we were on a trip to Turkey and Greece organized through Rosedale United Church .I found the small booklet in which I had written daily notes during that trip. On April 24,1994 I wrote “played bridge with Mary Frances and Keith Hendrick“.That was 26 years ago this evening. We were in Pamukkale.
We had many more bridge games in the years following. Mary Frances was a keen player and I often filled in for absent members of her afternoon bridge group. We had many mutual friends within the church and our husbands had a number of business friends in common.
Both she and Keith were warm and welcoming hosts in their home on Rosedale Heights Drive. I have memories of long conversations around the kitchen table after a shared supper. I always had to take a look at the garden before I left.
I extend my condolences to all the family. I hope you will find comfort in the good memories of the times you shared with your mother and of her deep devotion and love for all of you.
Yours sincerely,
Wilma Spence

Dear Susan & Family,
It was with profound sadness that Katrine and I read your Mother's Obituary in today's edition of The Globe & Mail. She was a truly outstanding individual who had a tremendously engaging personality and the warmest of smiles. She brought sunshine into all of our lives and will be sorely missed.
It hardly seems that it was 48 years ago when I first met your Mother and Father, when Keith hired me at Noranda in April 1972! How time has fled. I had about 35 years of challenges, fun, hard work -made much easier by the combined friendship of two of the most kind and considerate people that we have ever met. We both learned a great deal about greeting, hosting and entertaining people from all over the World from watching, imitating and sharing events, meals, in innumerable countries around the Globe! What wonderful times!
In these current very difficult conditions it is these kind of memories that help us navigate our ways through the darkness - but never forget that these times will change, the clouds will part and the sun will once again shine on all of us. In the interim, please love and look after each other, Stay Safe and Healthy. We will meet again soon to celebrate her life together.
Kindest regards, sincere condolences and much love,
Katrine & Malcolm Siverns
