On behalf of myself and my recently deceased father, Richard M. Ivey, our sincere condolences to Susan and the family on Tom's sudden passing. We knew Tom both as personal and corporate clients of PWC.and through his omnipresence on the Canadian business scene and in many important Toronto and area causes. He was a pillar of leadership and good governance and a very sweet guy. He will be sorely missed.

It was always a treat when we visited friends at Balsam Lake for Tom & Susan to cruise up for a visit. Flip flops, tees, unassuming and ready for some laughs. Meanwhile we had usually just read about another of his successes in the financial sector but you'd never hear it from him. Bright, accomplished, kind, funny. We will certainly miss him! Our deepest sympathy to Susan and family. Sending virtual hugs until we can do it in person.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. It is a huge loss. He was without doubt one of the most influential leaders I've had the privilege to work with. During my early career at PW, Tom always found the time to provide heartfelt guidance, but I will most remember his relentless good humour!

Susan and family,
My deepest sympathies on your loss of Tom.
I worked closely with Tom in the nineties when I was with CIBC and he was the senior partner for PWC on our audit. He was such a gentleman who had the most gentle yet effective way of getting his message across.

From kindergarten until his untimely death, Tommy and I were our oldest and best friends. Although we lived apart, for 65 years we were always in touch with each other, speaking to each other every Christmas and on our birthdays. There was no better a human being than Tommy as his lengthy obituary attests. I loved Tommy and miss him terribly already. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wonderful life partner, Susan and his entire family. The world has lost a great human being. He will be missed by so many who knew him to be so special. Love you, Tommy. Howard Shapiro

Dear Susan,
Our deepest condolences to you and the family. I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Tom. As a Sillery, Quebec family, we go back a long way. I had the privilege of working with Tom at Queen's on the Board of Trustees and Advancement Committee. Most recently Tom served as a bit of a mentor for me on board governance matters. He was a very busy man who always made time to help and contribute to important causes. At the same time he made time for his friends and old acquaintances. He was a great man and just a great guy. One of the best I ever knew. We will miss him, as will the world.

Susan and family. I was shocked and saddened to read about Tom’s death. I first met Tom in 1973 when I joined PW as a raw recruit from university. I was fortunate to be assigned to his staff as well as the Imperial Oil audit. Over the next four years we worked together on several clients. I had the opportunity to met Susan and their beautiful daughters on a few occasions as well. I kept in touch with Tom after I left PW. Our paths crossed several times in business but I would also contact him for advice on both business and personal matters. He always had time for me which was much appreciated. I learned a lot from him and his approach to life. He was a leader and an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.

Susan,
I was deeply saddened to read the news about Tom. We became friends at Queen's and after our respective graduations, I was pleased to have him as one of my first clients when I began my career at Canada Life. I knew Tom was destined to be a very successful businessman, but what impressed me most was the fact that he was just a really nice person. Over the years, I had opportunities to connect with him. He never changed and I always valued his advice and perspectives during our conversations. Special people make an impact in their lives and those around them become better people as a result. That is certainly the legacy he leaves. I see that the two of you created a sizeable family to carry on in Tom's absence. Rhena joins me in extending our sincere and deepest condolences. Our thoughts are with you all.

Dear Susan and Family ,
My condolences to you and your family . Tom was an important figure in my working and personal life. We shared a lot of laughs when he was at Price Waterhouse... he was a wonderful leader and to my surprise a great karaoke singer the night i worked on the final partners meeting for PW at Chateau Montebello! From there we continued to cross paths at Queen's University and the Toronto Club. He always was chipper and made time when i asked questions on governance or business.
He was truly a wonderful Canadian and friend. I will miss him.

So sorry to hear about Tom and my heart goes out to you and the family. I knew Tom during his Scotiabank days as Director and then Chair and he was always fully engaged at all levels including the personal side as we went thru the financial crisis. He and I did a number of roadshows for the U of T executive courses showing the engagement between a Board Chair and the Chief Risk Officer. We were told we got the highest rating from the audience feedback no doubt to his pragmatic and ethical approach to all issues. He will be missed by all.

Susan and family: My most sincere sympathies on your loss. I have known Tom since moving to Toronto in 1984. When I was Chair of KPMG in Canada Tom had a similar role at PwC. Tom was a terrific professional, a tough but fair competitor and a very fine person. He had a first rate second career as a leading independent Director. I know that he was looking forward to a somewhat less active business career which has been cut short. Tom will be greatly missed.
Susan I also had the opportunity to know your late brother Tim when I was a member of the Bank of Canada Board. Another fine individual.
My warmest wishes to your family at this very difficult time.

My first memory of Tom - many years ago - was when I was coordinating a bottle drive to raise funds to purchase a refrigerator for the Fenelon Falls Curling Club. Every Sunday he would drop off the empties at our cottage on Indian Point ... wondering how far along we were on the fundraising. Every week he promised that his family would be able to do it . That they were up to the task! And guess what? They were...along with the other cottages. We raised enough that summer to buy that fridge. Thank you, Tom, for your commitment then - and your sense of humour that went with it. We will miss you so much.
