I am deeply saddened to hear of Calvin's passing, my condolences to all his family and friends.
A caring, more generous bon vivant and friend would be hard to find. I've had the opportunity to spend numerous weekends at his cottage with various friends and truly missed spending the time with him at his cottage in Georgian Bay ...so many fond memories!
Boating through thick fog to get to our 9am tee time, I quickly realized why the early tee time, it was because he wanted to get back to the cottage early enough for him to catch the final round of the PGA. He truly loved the game of golf, pity the game was not as kind to him ... in his senior years!
Sharing cocktails, good food and good times with Calvin was a pleasure and honour and to this day whenever I hear the Sinatra at Sands album, I think of Calvin and the wonderful cottage weekends.
He will be missed, and we can be grateful he has been in our lives.
Rest In Peace dear friend.

I have a lot of great memories of Calvin. He was always a mentor to me in my early career and a great friend. He taught me to let go of everything on the golf course and just enjoy the moment.
When I lived in Arizona, we got to spend a great deal of time together as well.
Calvin had such a great love for his Jaguar cars, and fine dining, and was a great host. I always looked forward to the invites to his cottage, going back as far as the '80s. I was just a young upstart, and Calvin always took me seriously. I really appreciated that about him.
I will miss Calvin, and I extend my condolences to his family and other friends.

Any day or week when you knew you were going to spend some time with Calvin was always a good one-- filled with anticipation. He was a cherished friend, for me and so many others. Some of it was his quiet but brilliant presence. And his wicked sense of humour.
Whether it was arguing over some words in a script, or dreaming up new angles on old problems, it was always fun and intellectually satisfying. I am so proud to have conspired with him in the trenches for the Progressive Conservative Party and at a later date, on the challenges of the Canadian petroleum industry. He taught me a lot.
He was a beacon of integrity.
Fond memories to all Calvin's family, for your loss.

My condolences to the McLauchlan family. I am so sad that Cal has passed. Murray it was such a pleasure to meet you in Collingwood and that we had that too short walk down memory lane. Cal and I started in the advertising business together and were friends for many years. Eventually our lives went in different directions but any opportunity to connect was always a pleasure.
The experiences we shared were amazing and are forever rooted in my memory bank. He was a kind, creative and generous soul who lived life his way. He was my friend.

Condolences to Murray Mclauchlan and family on the passing of his brother Calvin. Calvin was an old friend too. Most brilliant and funny guy. For many years I was pleased to be a trusted confident to stories he couldn't tell elsewhere. He walked in many shoes Sadly missed.

I met Calvin just a couple of times in the 1990s and unfortunately not since. Murray and I were planning an advertising/marketing campaign to coincide with the release of one of Murray's albums that I was involved with. Murray felt sure Calvin would add some inspired ideas and insight to our plan - and indeed he did. Calvin possessed so much of that same wit and intellect his brother does and those couple of meetings with him stood out amongst so many others. Our thoughts are with you Murray and to all the McLauchlan family. Frank & Lynda Davies

So very sad to learn about Calvin.
What an endearing fellow and prince of a man he was! His kindness and generosity, matched by a wicked sense of humour, made him a special friend to my late husband, Les McIlroy, and myself.
Les was so very fond of Calvin and had deep respect for his knowhow and integrity. He was also a exceptional mentor to myself years ago in helping me guide a federal crown corporation through a challenging transition into the world of modern sales and marketing.
May you fly with the angels dear friend.
And to Calvin's family, may you find comfort and peace in the months ahead; yes indeed, it's hard to imagine a world without him.
Sincerest condolences,
Ruth Fothergill
