It was hard to reconcile - hard to process when we heard about our Betty. A year on, and it's not any easier to believe. I understand what people mean when they say grief is not something you "get over", but rather something you learn to live with. I carry Betty with me everywhere I go - I hear her advice as it rings still in my ears, and I cherish the memories I have of her. Prayers for Betty and her family.

We are so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful neighbor and friend Betty was to us. We are still in shock this has happened to a kind, generous and loving person. She will be missed and thought about often. Heaven does have another angel but taken too soon.
We will miss Bettys laugh and our conversations as Beau barked at our Sasha through the fence. Her smile will always shine brightly in our hearts.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Betty. Betty was the one who first hired me at Sunnybrook Hospital along with the referral from my Aunt, Sharon Melrose. Betty was the one who helped launch my career in the health field and gave me a new direction in life when I was unsure of what to do career-wise. She encouraged me to learn as much as I can and sent me to different departments in the hospital to work at and get to know and stood up for me when I needed support is some difficult situations. I now work at SickKids but I will never forget my time at Sunnybrook and working with her and getting to know her. My thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones in this hard time. I look forward to seeing everyone at Sunnybrook on Monday to pay my respects to an amazing woman. Much love to you Betty and rest in peace. <3 <3 <3

I was very lucky to know Betty at work, and she always had a smile when I would pass her in the hallway. She was one of those lovely people that always made your day better, and always took the time to share a kind word or help others. It was with a very heavy heart that I learned of her passing, and I wanted to send my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. I will really miss her, and am so truly sorry for your loss.

Ah, what a woman she was! Full of life and love and fun. I did not work with Betty, more's the pity, but was always delighted to run in to her in the halls of Sunnybrook.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope that time will gently ease your sadness.
"When our body is no longer able to perform its functions in the natural world but is separated from our spirit, which is called dying, we still continue to be ourselves and to live. We ourselves live, because we live not from the body but from the spirit, since it is the spirit which thinks and loves in us, and thought with affection makes us what we are.
Remember, friends, that everyone is born for heaven; and that they are received into heaven who receive heaven in themselves while in this world."

My sincere condolences to Betty's family Anna, Debbie, Ian and to their families...I am so sorry..this was a real shock!! I met Betty when she started at Sunnybrook. I was already working for Lifeline in the Social Work Dept and she was my new boss. Well, she quickly became an awesome friend. She wanted to know everything about what I did for Lifeline and even came on a home visit with me (I was nervous but she quickly made me feel comfortable). She offered me the job in Geriatric Intake and I accepted and worked with her for another 19 years and they were years filled with her kindness, patience, fun and a real geniune love for people. We got to know all about each others families and even carpooled together when either of our cars broke down. She was always helping others and always geniunely interested in everyone. All my love goes out to all of Betty's family and friends and I hope you can all find comfort in the beautiful memories you share of her. .
Love from Sharon and Fred Melrose

Betty was a wonderful person. We giggled all the time - we figured we were the only 2 people left in the world who still shopped AVON! Always smiling and brightening my day. My thoughts are with you in this time of great loss.
You meet people who forget you. You forget people you meet. But sometimes you meet those people you can’t forget. Those are your friends.
