Janet was a wonderful person. She was so welcoming to me when I met her at one of my first SPNHC meetings. She continued to be a friend and a wise voice of experience and knowledge as I started my museum career. She was a lovely woman and we shared many tales of our respective dogs. I extend my deepest condolences to her family and her friends. May God bless you and keep you.

Janet has been a colleague for over 40 years. I was very saddened to hear of her premature death. I remember Janet particularly for her work with the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections, arranging for the Society to have its annual meeting at the ROM way back in 1986. She encouraged all of us collections staff to contribute a presentation and then published them. The collection community has lost a bright, dedicated curator. My condolences to you, Dennis and family, in this very difficult time.

So sad to hear of Janet's passing. I was fortunate to re-connect with her for the first time in almost fifty years as a member of her extended family while in Port Hope during the summer of 2019. As always her irrepressible smile and cheery nature made my day better. To Dennis and all Jan's children and grandchildren I extend my love and the hope that her memory will keep a smile on your face.

Janet was a huge inspiration to me while I was growing up, and a primary influence on my decision to pursue a career in palaeontology. I will always be grateful to her for welcoming me into the ROM 'family' and I will fondly remember her kindness, generosity and enthusiasm for what she did. It was my privilege to call her both a mentor and a friend. She will be dearly missed. My heartfelt condolences.

Always with a ready smile and up for a lengthy discussion, Janet would not back down from her well thought out positions. Many times I began my (feeble) arguments without thinking past the first possible response only to be blind-sided by her brilliant contrarian viewpoint. Many of our `block walks` involved a single topic carried on for over one hour. I`ll miss her immensely.
