Dr. McLeese was a close friend of my mother, Margaret Ross in Halifax. My dad was a paediatrician at the old Children’s Hospital at the time. Dr. McLeese sang at their wedding at the Lord Nelson Hotel. Margaret and Adelaide spent time together with their children whenever Adelaide visited Halifax in the 1950’s. I have fond memories of those outings. They kept up their friendship over the years and I remember visiting Adelaide with my family in the early 1980’s in her lovely home in Toronto where she served us tea with her beautiful antique tea set. As a child I remember Adelaide as a beautiful woman with big red hair and a uniquely lovely low, warm, calming voice. I remember also she smiled easily and was always warm and welcoming. I know her friendship meant a great deal to my mom. My mom died in 1991 and my sister and I have wondered over the years about Dr. McLeese and what had happened to her. I am happy that you published her obituary in the Halifax Chronicle Herald this morning. I am sorry for your loss. Dr. McLeese was an amazing woman. We feel honored to have know Adelaide, what an amazing woman. We first me Adelaide on an European ski trip, where even then she kept up with the younger crowd. We were very lucky to become good friends with the entire family after that trip. We will miss her but always cherish the very fond memories that will survive her. Jonathan & Judith
