Dear Stephen, Alan, and Glen,
I enjoyed your humorous and wonderful memories of your father, J. Gordon Cook, in the Globe and Mail. There are many stories I could relate to as a first cousin of your mother, Marian Wright, and her sister, Jean.
My husband, Alan, and I met Gordon many years ago (you boys were just teenagers) when invited for dinner in your home in Toronto. Alan, my son, John Alan, and I attended the reunion in Collingwood twenty years ago and again had the pleasure of meeting Gordon. Fond memories of a man's life well lived!
Love to all,
Mary Joan Malcolm (Mel) Anderson Covey (enjoying 91 years and counting)

My husband, Joe, another 50+ year member of Summit G&CC, was one of Gord's cohorts for many years at those 6:30 a.m. tee offs at Summit. We also enjoyed Gord & Marian's company at the local theatre productions at Fairview Library Theatre for several years.
A wonderful couple. After Joe's passing in 2011, Gord was very kind and checked in a couple of times a year to see how I was & to update me on Summit news. Unfortunately after Marian's passing I lost track of Gord and was saddened to see his obituary on Saturday.
My condolences to the Cook "boys" whom we finally met at the wonderful 50th wedding anniversary celebrations at Summit. May happy memories sustain you at this time.

I was fortunate enough to have worked with your father for many years at the WCB.
Gord was one of a rare breed... a true "gentle" man. His quiet humour especially at our endless management committee meetings, always made me smile. I think it was the sly little grin that he would get when he knew he had hit the funny bone!
The wonderful and light hearted humour in his obituary was a real tribute to your Dad - he would have loved it. I recall speaking to him a few years ago about his membership in the WCB/WSIB Alumni Association that I started. It was nice to hear his unique voice and I still can remember it.
I have made a donation to my local Poppy Fund in his memory.
Yours in sympathy on the loss of a lovely man.

I read the obituaries every Saturday in the Globe and Mail, and sadly I didn’t know your Dad.
As I read about your Dad and his “ wonderful life” tears were streaming down my cheeks. I’ve read a lot of summaries of people’s lives however ,this has never happened before. His tribute was so beautifully written and clearly reflected the character and loss he will be.Perhaps being a golfer myself has some part of it , but I feel compelled to send my sincere condolences
I wanted you to know how this written reflection moved me !
I am truly sorry for your loss of your Dad and this clearly wonderful person ! Treasure all those memories and take care .

Thinking of you and your family at this time. Although I never knew your father, after reading his tribute, I can now see what an amazing person he was and where his traits have been passed on down to you (Steve, Al & Glenn). This is the first time I have read a tribute with a few giggles and smiled thinking of all the wonderful memories you have shared together. May his spirit live on and bring you comfort.

What a marvelous tribute to your dad. We remember him as a true gentleman with a wry smile. For me it's from Talbot Park and for Marjorie, the curling club. Our condolences to all.
