I'd like to offer my condolences to Lisa's friends and family, I can only imagine how hard this is. To me, Lisa was Ms. Grant, my teacher for grades 5 and 6. I will remember her for her for being a supportive person who cared her students' well-being, not just their academics. She always seemed to be aware of how her students were doing, and created a classroom where everyone could express themselves.
Ms. Grant knew how to keep everyone's energy at bay when necessary, but it never felt like she was frustrated or angry with people when it was harder to make a positive space. I remember her staying inside the classroom with me one lunch hour to go through a book we were reading. I was confused about certain things in the book and she walked me through it very carefully and thoroughly. I felt she understood my struggle, and I will always appreciate her compassion. She will be missed.

Hi there,
I was so sorry to hear of Lisa's passing. My condolences to her family and friends - I can't imagine how much she will be missed.
I'd like to share some memories of Lisa as my grade 6 teacher during the 07-08 school year. I remember Ms Grant as someone who had great faith in human goodness and a dedication to making life special. Grade 6 was a really good year for me, and looking back, I can see that being in her class was part of the reason.
Here are some memories...
She was very supportive. When another student hurt his funny bone and said he'd like to invent a device to protect it, she encouraged him to partner with other students in the class who might be interested in such a thing.
I remember her putting us into desk groups based on who we wrote we wanted to be seated with, and setting aside ample time for us to make ridiculously long and convoluted names for each of them.
On the last day of school, she and Ms Kosa let me and another student hang back for an extra 2 hours because we weren't ready to graduate. They could have kicked us out, but they were too kind.
She also indulged my wackiness, letting me and two other students write her silly poems and perform them for the class. It was awesome of her to let her classroom be our creative platform.
Finally, she was also firm. Every day with her was fun, and she had a great sense of humour, but she also knew how to be direct and teach a good lesson on character. I will always remember her as a teacher who genuinely cared about her students and who also had much joie de vivre in and out of the classroom.
I am so sad that I didn't get the chance to say goodbye, but I hope she would have remembered me and known how much I valued being in her class.

I was so sorry to hear this news from Bert on Facebook. I was very close friends with Bert in University and I knew Lisa throughout that time and since they lived in Toronto.
I can only imagine what the family is going through having lost a family member at such a young age. Lisa was someone who Bert always spoke highly of and she was a delight to be around. What was special about her is that she made my friend Bert a very happy man and I’m so sorry to hear that he has lost his life partner.
My thoughts are with you Bert, your daughter’s and extended family.

My sincere condolences to the Armstrong and Grant families.
I grew up with Lisa - walking to grade school together, middle school and high school. So many great memories of a wonderful kind friend. She was smart and creative and always pushed me to be better and challenge myself. We shared many laughs and adventures over the years but most of all I will always remember her love for Bono and the Blue Jays. Sadly life took us in different directions and we lost touch over the years. Lisa will forever have a place in my heart ❤️ A great friend and loving person. I am so sorry for your loss.

My sincere condolences to the Grant and Armstrong families.
Lisa was a good friend of mine throughout high school but sadly we didn't stay in touch after graduation. I will always remember her as a happy, fun loving, creative person (she was always doodling on my binders and yearbooks) with a wicked sense of humour, and for her passionate love affair with U2 and constant battle with her unruly curls.
She was one of a kind, a wonderful person, a true friend and I'm so deeply sorry for your loss.
