I am so sorry to hear Alex has passed. Since we were recent neighbours I have very fond memories of Alex walking up Hazelton Avenue with his lovely bowed legs looking always dapper! Then trying to figure out what the hell he was saying with that strong Glasgow accent was the biggest challenge of the day. He will be missed. My thoughts go out to his family for their great loss. Very fond memories from way back in the mid 1970's at Manulife. We worked hard, played harder. A seasoned guy in the computer room you helped me, a fledgling programmer, get through some tough jobs late at night. I remember you as a lovable, charming character. Always with a laughable wise-crack.

I am a granddaughter to Alex. I was not quite 4, my brother 5. Granddad sat in the dark dining room where he smoked after dinner. Kids drove granddad crazy. Greg and I would dare each other to run past his chair. I will never forget granddad's chuckle there in the dark. Kitty Kelso

So many memories come flooding to mind as I recall the many great and formative times Alex and I shared, from running the data centre at Manulife together in the early hectic days of “Production Control”, to learning that we were each going to become first time parents just weeks apart, to weathering those tough early days of juggling parenthood with work on no sleep (I remember him laughing as he pointed out the baby goop on the shoulder of my jacket as we were trying to have a serious meeting), to sharing places at Blue Mountain and Mt Tremblant where he and our four boys learned to ski together (memories of him waving as he zoomed past us in a ski patrol sled at Tremblant as he gave up on a hill we really shouldn’t have been on!). We saw and went through a lot together in those years, and I both remember it all fondly and thank him for the wisdom, balance and humour he brought to every situation. Sincere condolences to Lorraine, James and Paul on your loss. He was and will remain in my memory a unique, generous and loving soul. Rest In Peace, Alex.

I was very shocked and saddened to learn of Alex's passing. It is many years since I last saw Alex; however, I remember with him with much fondness from the Manulife days. He was a great character and I have often regaled friends with tales of his exploits. Most of all I will always remember his laughter and twinkling eyes. My sincere condolences to all of his family and friends. Annette

I’ll remember Alex Kelso in many positive ways-with a big smile and a great sense of humor, always great with a story. When working in the neighbourhood store Alex would walked by daily with his inseparable furry friend- Macduff. Alex truly loved dogs and appreciated our attention and care of his dear buddy. We developed the friendship and Alex introduced me and other Hugo Boss ladies to his beautiful wife -Lorraine. Many dinners, laughs and fun memories happened since that time. If you feel like a morning coffee and friendly talk you would go to Pusateri's and always see Alex is dressing sharp and impeccably. And yes, he had an outstanding selection of cashmere. Alex was truly an incredible person, and his loss is felt deeply. My deepest condolences to the family.

Sorry to hear about Alex’s passing. Although I live in Kemptville now and haven’t seen Alex in years, he and Bill took me in as part of their family when I moved to Toronto forty years ago and I’ll always appreciate that.

It was with much sadness I learned of Alex’s passing. While I hadn’t seen Alex in a number of years, I have many great memories of shared sailing experiences in the BVI and Georgian Bay, ski trips together and of course many years as co-workers at Manulife. He was a supportive and caring friend who was there when you most needed him.
My sincere condolences to Lorraine and Alex’s family on his passing...

My condolences to all the family, friends and acquaintances of Alex Kelso of whom I am sure there are many.
I first saw Alex as he flashed past me sprinting down Yong Street back to his home on Marlborough Avenue. I never thought I would be see him again but met him for the first time playing footba’ at 999 Queen St. He was no Jim Baxter but had passion and commitment in every tackle. We shared post game beers and infrequent lunches around his Hazleton neighbourhood. Our discussions covered every subject under the sun. It was nay bother to blether with Alex. He was like a Duncan Walnut Whip....a crusty and hard exterior, a soft inner core and a complete nut at633Qt the centre. He will be sadly missed by all.

" It is amazing, the things you can see and achieve in life, if you just take the bother to look up"
That is something 'Alex Kelso' would often say.
As previously, some years before, I had taken the bother to look up 'Hazelton Ave' and in so doing had achieved a freindship to this man of impeccable fashion and style with emboldened blue eyes.
This Alex Kelso.
And this Alex Kelso a proud Scotsman of considerable achievement who would over the years often speak of, and with glowing affection, the achievements of all those he knew and loved and of all those he dearly admired.
Alex would do this , I noted, while gazing upward to the distance.
On one such occasion I asked him " are you looking for the man on the moon?"
"No" Alex responded, "I was just thinking of this incredible piece of music I was listening to this morning " then adding " I mean music, thats mankinds greatest achievement right?
"Not the man on the moon, or technology or any of that shite...."
I learned a great deal from my friendship with Alex.
Looking up.
God rest his soul.

My dearest condolences to Alex's family and friends. It was a jolting shock to hear of his passing so suddenly, a friend I could call anytime to join me for a jovial lunch, good food, a drink and entertaining stories. I will truly miss our lunches together, and truly miss spending time with my good mate, The Plebe.
