Many will come and many will go but few will be remembered forever. I will always rememeber my former CO, comrade in arms, fellow logistian and an officer and a gentleman, who have in so many ways inspired me.
May God shine his light on you.

Our sympathy and profound respect on the death of our friend and benefactor, Reg Lewis. Reg had the happy quality of wearing his responsibilities lightly despite their serious nature. Thus he could speak freely - though never indiscreetly - of conversations he had had with his beloved Regiment's Royal Colonel in Chief, while holding the institution of the Canadian Crown in deep respect. Modest and perceptive, Reg's memory will long remain bright: "a veray parfit gentil knight."

Dear Shiela. I am in Florida and just received an email from St Lazarus. I was so sorry to hear about Reg. He and I are within a year of each other. I always considered Reg to be the person to whom I could turn for Militia advice as a friend. He was always ready to explain the real reason, which I greatly valued, especially while commanding the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment. My Christmas card will arrive as usual. Sheila, I am so sorry for your loss. Remember to keep smiling. Ken Willcocks..

Dear Aunt Sheila and family,
I was so saddened to hear of Uncle Regie’s passing. As we are in Florida (these passed three weeks) I received notice just recently. I know he was such a special and highly regarded gentleman and a special cousin to my Dad, David Lewis (dearly departed now 32 years). I will be visiting Aunt Daphne (another cousin) in the Uk this July and am sure to have lots of discussions about many of the Lewis clan. I am sending special prayers that you will continue to remain strong as you soldier on without your beloved husband and soul mate, Regie.

Our deepest sympathies to Sheila and family. Although our Father (Jim, who's now 100) lost touch over the years, we know he had fond memories of their days together, when Reginald first came to Canada and through the 1970's. Our thoughts are with you. Blessings.

I very much regret I am unable to attend either the visitation or the service for Reg.
I was a great admirer of Reg Lewis. He was a brilliant administrator at City Hall, and was very helpful and supportive of me when I was a councillor and Mayor. He provided strong professional advice to City Council and was a excellent leader, the best of public servants. He made the city Parking Authority into one of the strongest and most innovative public enterprises in Ontario. It was my pleasure to know him and to work with him.

When I started work at Parking Authority of Toronto in1988, he was the president. I remember how he came and introduced himself to me at my worksite not long after I was hired. His gentleness and respect to the little guy was nothing I have ever seen from a boss.
He was loved by all employees. At biennial dinners hosted by TPA, he always got the loudest and longest standing ovation. That was a testimony to his character and deep affection we had for him.
May he rest in peace and his loved ones carry on with life in the way he wanted them.

Dear Sheila and family of Reg: Belinda and I have such excellent memories of our times together.
We first met through the Empire Club in the ‘80s and ‘90s and then during his period as HCol of The Royals. Indeed, thanks to Reg, I was humbled and honoured when asked to assume his role as the Honorary Colonel of the Regiment - very huge shoes to fill ! His boldness ( some would say rashness:)!) in asking me to succeed him indirectly led to the esrtablishment of Canada Company and the many programs that have since helped thousands of military members and their families.
Right up until he became ill, he always had a such lovely wit, gentle manner, and was both compassionate and a true leader. He leaves behind a rich legacy .
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Sheila.
Warmest and best wishes ,
Belinda and Blake

Dear Sheila;
Please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your dear husband, Reg. It was my pleasure to meet you in 2008 when Reg was presented with one of the 100 prestigious one-time CGA Canada Centenary Awards in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the accounting profession, his community and the lives of others. Thank you also for keeping me advised of how Reg was doing when I was contacting him in regard to the Canadian Forces Logistics Association. Please rest assured that his most significant contributions to the military and civilian communities will long be remembered. May he rest in peace and enjoy lots of reminisces with Jack. I wish him, in the best Naval tradition, fair winds and following seas.
Yours sincerely,
Dick

Reg Lewis was one of the very last of the giants, a gentleman who was a kind and gentle man, whose combination of dignity, kindness, warmth were admirable, and whose dry wit is all too rare in this era. We are fortunate to have benefitted from his legacy in the wonderful park system we have in Toronto, and in the other areas of city life of which he was a superb steward. His role in the Army Reserve was fundamentally important to the defence of Canada and his service to this country, and indeed to the NATO alliance can not be understated. Most of all, he was a fine person, who gave much to his family and friends, and his fellow Canadians. I am very grateful for the friendship I had with Reg over many years, and for the wise advice I was fortunate to receive from him on many occasions. I will miss him, as will so many. My sincere condolences to the family.
