Obituary of Doris Hearst
DORIS HEARST (nee Kindrachuk)
April 26, 1924 – January 27, 2019
Doris passed away suddenly at home, as was her wish. Predeceased by her husband Bob in 2015, she will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie (Doug Herridge), Charlene, and Robert (Elizabeth Baranyi); her grandchildren, Jason (Rhona), Chantal, and Keith; her sole surviving sister, Olive Genereux; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Born a twin into a large Ukrainian family on a humble farm in Hafford, Saskatchewan, Doris was a woman of remarkable spirit and determination who came to Toronto on her own in her early teens. She was proud of her heritage and loved her family deeply. Doris was a long time employee at Shell Canada and found strength in her faith and church involvement at Victoria Village United, where she was a founding member and a UCW President, and at Jubilee United, where she served on many committees and regularly baked the bread used for communion. Doris loved to entertain and was most happy when preparing memorable meals or dozens of cookies to share or celebrate with family and friends. She will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5th. Service to be held in Jubilee United Church, 40 Underhill Drive on Wednesday, February 6th at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations may be made in memory of Doris to Jubilee United Church (Toronto M3A 2J5) or a charity of your choice. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
