John Paul Jeffrey

Obituary of John Paul David Jeffrey

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved son, brother, grandson, family member, and friend, John Paul “JP” Jeffrey. JP will be missed every day by his loving mother, Cathy Kelly, sister Jennifer, brothers David and Michael, and grandmother Jane Jeffrey. JP will be fondly remembered by his aunt Jennifer Deacon (Campbell), and uncle Gerard Boyle (Sally) and cousins Jeffrey, JC (Jessica) and Gillian Deacon and their children, and Michael and Nicholas Boyle. John Paul was predeceased by his father, Stephen Jeffrey (Robin Robarts), aunt Liss Jeffrey, grandparents John and Bernadette Boyle and Paul Jeffrey. He will be greatly missed by his extended family Kevin Kelly, Erin and Josh Smith, Meaghan and John Lindstrom, their children, and Connor Kelly.

JP graduated a “survivor” from Upper Canada College in 2001. He loved his time at UCC where he played football, basketball and rugby and made lifelong friends. He went on to earn a degree in Economics from Queen’s University.

His education laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning, fostering an intellectual mind fed by a voracious appetite for reading and debate.

JP started his career with Raymond James.  He developed an unparalleled passion for the investment business. A born entrepreneur, he loved designing complex strategies and was instrumental in developing a number of innovative financial products.

John Paul was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart and good to the core. He had a quick wit and he loved to entertain and make people laugh. These qualities were immediately apparent to those of us who were lucky enough to have known him. JP had a great love for his family and friends. He cherished his time at the family cottage in Honey Harbour, Georgian Bay, his favourite place on earth.

JP was defined by his love, generosity and brilliant mind. Our world is a better place to have known him and a sad place to have lost him.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22nd.  A service will be held in The Cathedral Church of St. James, 106 King Street East, Toronto, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23rd
