Obituary of Judith Patel
JUDITH ANN PATEL (nee Green)
1938-2019
Beloved wife of Dr. Harshad Patel for more than 54 years; loving mother of Tracey and Lisa; proud grandmother of Trinity, Cassidy, Jameson, Lexi and Campbell, Judy Patel passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto in her 80th year, following a massive stroke. Judy will be deeply missed by her family; sons-in-law, Robert and Eric; sister, Mary Brown; brother-in-law Graham; her extended family and her wide circle of friends.
Judy was born to the late Richard and Ida Green in March, 1938 in Newcastle, Staffordshire, in England. She spent her free time as a child dancing, and continued with her love of dancing until the week she passed. Judy graduated as a Physiotherapist from Birmingham University in 1958. While at Birmingham University she met Harshad, then in Medical School, and they married in Newcastle in May, 1964. In 1967, Judy and Harshad immigrated to Canada where they worked at the University of Saskatchewan for a few years before settling in Toronto.
Judy was full of life and energy, never hesitating to do anything for her family and friends. She was the life partner and soul mate to Harshad for close to 60 years. She was a dedicated mother and friend to her two daughters and brought much joy and love to her five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Wednesday, January 16th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Sunnybrook Foundation, Critical Care Unit, 2075 Bayview Avenue, KGW-01, Toronto, Ontario, M4N 3M5. We would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for our wife and mother with such kindness and compassion over the four days she spent in the Sunnybrook Critical Care Unit.
