Subject: Heartfelt Condolences To You Cindy
To: Dennis and Cindy Drapper <conloqui@rogers.com>
Dearest Cindy, we are so saddened by the passing of Dennis, a long time friend and man of many memories for us to look back upon.
He was immigrating and we were returning to Canada. His first full day in Toronto was a rocky start to his future of considerable succes in his new adopted country. I always have felt bad that Elaine and I were not in a position to be more supportive that first day.
His crossing of the Atlantic several times delivering Catamarans led me to sayk how thrilling a life that must have been. He responded that the journeys were 90 % boredom and 10% terror! His laughter, sense of humour still ring in our thoughts.
We remember with fondness the many times we were invited to your home to partake in Dennis's Boxing Day Chili Extravaganza. The chef sometimes had one too many glasses of red wine while being culinary creative ... and guests were eager to catch up to him ... (LOL)
They were good times with good friends.
We remember Dennis's apartment on Spadina Rd. It was there, thanks to Dennis, that I began to truly appreciate Beatles Music - he was a great fan.
Your condo with its 59 stairs was a true city experience, and Elaine and I loved your roof-top "outlook" and " garden"; though It was eventually a wise decision to move to something smaller as the years passed.
Looking back just a few weeks, we appreciated the effort you and Dennis put into the luncheon arrangements celebrating Dennis's 50th anniversary in Canada. In hindsight, it was to be the last time we shared together with him and yourself - was it fate?
Well dear Cindy, we truly regret that we will not be at Dennis's Celebration of Life along with you, and friends. But our situation- including a large dog, reluctance to drive to Toronto from Collingwood (5 hrs round trip) with wet weather conditions, and our own health issues inhibit being physically there. Of course, we will be there with you and Dennis in spirit, in our thoughts, and memories.
