The obituary was eloquent and a great reflection of the life he lived. I’m happy to know that he shared his deepest thoughts and feelings towards the end and that he wasn’t too overtaken by his illness as it ran it’s course.
My memories of time spent with him aren’t many but they are choice. A lengthy discussion in front of a Jay Isaac painting with Tom and Brian Pel. A boisterous dinner party at his condo on Avenue Rd with Elmgreen and Dragset, and mostly his faith in me to prepare the CCPERB appraisals that helped many works from his personal collection enter the AGO’s permanent collection. As we are temporary custodians of the art we collect so too are we temporary custodians of the earth we inhabit.
Of course there are other memories but it’s always interesting to discover which one’s flood the mind at the break of news. Tom’s left a wonderful legacy through his friendships and his patronage. My heartfelt condolences to Woody and Eddie, and to his many friends.

In October 2010 his Bavarian Business Associates from Munich celebrated a typical Octoberfest in Hope, ID. Tom came to visit and join it and we had such a wonderful and joyful time together.
He will always be part of our life and never be forgotten.

I am very sad to hear this news. I admired and respected Tom very much. He was one of the best lawyers I ever met, and more importantly, a fine man. I was proud we had a shared Icelandic heritage.
He will be missed by many.

Dear Woody,
My deepest condolences on the tragic loss of your partner.
Tom and I were classmates at law school and saw each only other intermittently after graduation but whenever we did see each other,I always thought to myself that I should make the effort to get together more often. That was because he was so interesting to be with and so interested in whoever he was with at the time.
We last saw each other in June at the Sheff party and we bade each other farewell with the hope that we would meet again at our 50th reunion of our law school class. That ,sadly was not to be the case.
I have only happy memories of Tom and hope that your happy memories will be of some consolation as you mourn his passing.
Reagrds,
Cliff

Dear Woody and family
I send pleasant thoughts of Tom’s life. His smile, wit and intellect will be remembered and missed. In Art matters and life Tom has been a mentor to me.
I have always enjoyed and cherished conversations with Tom. He shared thoughtful approaches to both Art and Life.
I am glad I could visit Tom at the hospice before his passing.
I send my prayers and positive thoughts to all who loved and cared for Tom.
He will missed

I remember Tom well from my years at McCarthy's and more recently being impressed with his athleticism at the Toronto Athletic Club. He was always a very gentle and very kind person, from a summer student to a soon to be senior lawyer. I was extremely sad to hear the news and I wish to best to Tom's friends and family.

I am sad to read of Tom’s passing. Never friends but our lives crossed several times, most recently at the Toronto Athletic Club, during his career at McCarthy’s but first as near neighbours and high school colleagues in Peterborough over 60 years ago. Always professional, always intelligent, I will miss his rgulsr greetings in the gym.
