Obituary of Marjorie Rule

MARJORIE HELEN RULE

(nee STROWLGER)

Peacefully, in the presence of family and loved ones at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, October 7, 2018.  Marjorie, daughter of the late Margaret and William Strowlger, recently celebrated her 96th birthday and was loved by all who knew her – a lady of kindness, graciousness and integrity, a love for family and life and a truly caring Mom.  She was the dearest wife and best friend of her late husband Reginald for over 58 years.  Devoted and loving mother of sons Barry and Jim; and cherished mother-in-law of Patricia and Margaret.  Proud grandmother of Jeff and his wife Amanda and her two great-grandchildren Ben and Nolan, also grandson Patrick and his wife Michelle and granddaughter Alicia.  Beloved sister of Bernice Liversidge and the late Dorothy Smith.  Dear aunt of Karen (husband Gerald), Kathy (daughter Emily) and Mary.  The family wishes to thank all the Personal Support Workers, their coordinator and the nursing staff at VHA for their excellent tender loving care over the many years.  A thank you also to family and friends for their support and prayers.  Your love and hugs meant so much, Maureen.  Special mention goes to Dr. Buchanan, Dr. Peto and to the emergency staff at Sunnybrook for their personal interest and outstanding care.  With pride we acknowledge Marjorie’s years of service and respected contributions to the Canadian Federal Government, both in Ottawa and Toronto, as well as St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the Anglican Church House.  She had many interests and was an avid reader, a fan of the Blue Jays, enjoyed following ballet, dance and competitive ice skating, was a traveller to numerous countries and took special joy in family celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries and graduations.  Marjorie was a proud Canadian and a true Torontonian who was born in Toronto and loved her city.  The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14th.  Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 15th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 227 Bloor Street East.  A reception will follow at the church.  Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery immediately afterwards.  If desired, a donation to the charity of your choice or flowers would be graciously accepted.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

God has you in his keeping.  We have you in our hearts.”
