Dear Maureen......my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Such wonderful memories of those fun filled and happy times in the early years of the LJC. We always enjoyed our friendship with you and John, both on the golf course or sharing dinner and a glass of wine together. My thoughts are with you during this sad time.

The thing we will always remember about John is the way he made others smile. He had a knack for the wry and clever comment and a very infectious laugh. Sooner or later, at any gathering, all those around John would be grinning and chuckling. He will be missed.

A true gentleman. He took a chance on me even though I was in mid-career and from a non-banking background. I am eternally grateful for his warmth, his mentorship and his guidance, Please accept my deepest condolences. My thoughts and my prayers are with you.

My or my, what a man! Met John once in all my 39 years (and counting) in the insurance brokerage business. He definitely falls into my 'favourite' client category. He was truly a man of wisdom, compassion (we did a lot of bitching together) and believe it or not his loud voice (louder than mine) was actually comforting when he was complaining of his insurance premiums. And through all these years I have yet to meet Maureen, but these past few years we speak often, we laugh and we reminisce and Maureen always had a 'new' John story and we would laugh together and at the same time have saddened hearts. My deepest sympathies to you all and I will truly remember his years of encouragement and 'love', through our annual, if not more, phone conversations. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. And I love you too Maureen xo

I am grateful for the generous amount of time I was able to spend with the Fitzpatrick family as a child - playing with Sean and Michael on Melrose, and summer on Georgian Bay.
I was not able to cut from whole cloth my idea of manhood and fatherhood, having lost my own father so early. Instead I pieced it together from men I knew while growing up, and for me John was the archetype of what a father should be: His booming voice yet kind demeanor; intimidating size, but gentle, thoughtful manner.
My love and thoughts to Maureen, Sean and Michael.

JCF was one good guy in the true sense of the term, remembered by me as being the kind of boss to let people shine, try new ideas, make mistakes. He managed with with a gentle hand. I'll never forget him, how wonderful he was for me, as I was tackling my first job outside of public affairs and paying no heed to anyone doubting women's abilities in those days (the 90s), so encouraging and supportive. A thoroughly lovely man indeed.
