I have always been very impressed by Gerry's realistic and supportive nature - never condescending and always looking forward.
I cherish the days and years spent with him and his faithful support of our Mercury Racing efforts.bB3D6

Gerry was an Omni present figure in the boat racing pits...both supporting, and partnering with, his talented and caring son Mark. The one two punch they created was extremely formidable, but totally sporting at the same time. I shall always remember Gerry’s fairness, class, and common sense. He taught us all through his actions and nobility. While Mark was so fortunate to have him as a dad, the rest of us who knew him were also blessed by the many times and many ways he extended his hand in friendship.
May God Bless you old friend, and keep watch over your family and friends as you always did in life.

I only had the pleasure to meet your Father one time. In the one time, I could see what a supportive Father he had been. I felt very much at ease around him and my thoughts and feelings go out to your whole family at this time.

My heart goes out to Mark and Jill and their family and Janice and her family.
Mark and I have been friends for 56 years (grade 3!).
I remember Gerry as a good and kind man, a gentleman. He was engaging and quick to laugh in conversation.
Most of all he stood out as a good father, mentor and friend to Mark and Janice -
truly, a great legacy.
And he was a positive influence in my life as well.

Mark,
I never had the pleasure of meeting your father but if you are any reflection of him he must have been a great guy.
I have lost parents and siblings and its not easy but you do heal but you never forget. It many be a bit trite but always remember the good times and smile when you do because that way he is never gone.

I first met Gerry in 1991 while producing The Piwer Boat Television Show. Mark as one of our hosts and knew that we needed an able bodied helmsman for our camera boat. “Gerry would be perfect”, Mark said and he was right. Always cheerful and warm, Gerry was also never late to a location. The production crew loved him and I became as fond of Gerry as I am of Mark, a good friend of mine today. Gerry was also an exceptional boatsman and his contribution to our show was invaluable. Kind, considerate, thoughtful. Just a few words I would use to describe Gerry Rotharmel. Many years have passed since we first met on a dock on Lake Simcoe but I have never forgotten how great it was to be in his company. I will never forget him.
