We just wanted to send our sincere condolences to you all. Aunt Helen was a wonderful & thoughtful person, full of life & love. She always had a smile on her face & she only spoke kind words of encouragement to all. Helen was a devout, charitable & graceful lady. She was a very well respected individual who will be remembered with much love & fondness.

Hi Jim, Lynne, Stephen, Jeff and Lia,
Wanted to write and extend our condolences from Nova Scotia. Although your Mom had been ill for a while, we know that it doesn’t make this time any easier. We are thinking of you and the kids today. I will always remember your Mom for her ginger cookies - those were fantastic. Best wishes on a hard day.

I remember Helen as a warm, friendly lady, full of pleasant conversation, and off course her baking was always welcome. Betty was especially fond of Helen, and I can imagine a far off kitchen, where I can hear the sounds of their conversation, full of laughter.
I know your loss is painful, but only time will heal and eventually sorrow will turn to pleasant memories. God Bless.

Helen always had a smile on face and such a warm and welcoming personality. It is sad when we loose a loved one, but you know she is in a better place. I hope, as time goes on, you can smile and remember all the good times. May these fond memories bring you comfort and peace.

Mrs O'Brien - mother (in law) of our friends Steve (Lia) was always there for us. Every time we visited her home (or cottage) there was great food (best baking and roast beef ever) and engaging (often quite humorous!) conversation with her and Mr. O'Brien. She was such a memorable part of growing up - a wonderful lady. She will truly be missed. Condolences to Steve, Lynn, Lia and Jeff, and all the grandkids.

Helen was a special friend of my mother from her time working at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. As a family, we often visited with Helen's family. One doesn't always enjoy visiting adult households with one's parents, but the Tighe house visits were always okay -- not sure why. Mrs. Tighe was admirable, with great, good-natured acceptance of life's ups and downs, a person of deep faith, and Helen especially shared with her a remarkable compassion for people. Growing up, one watches and learns about human nature, about coping, about adjustments, about resilience, about sources of strength and joy. Besides liking Helen very much, I think my mother admired Mrs. Tighe greatly, and we all "caught" that -- we all entered the Tighe home knowing it was a very human, but sacred, space -- a "good" place, a "right" place, a human place. Knowing the Tighe family while growing up, I think, increased my awareness of what life is, what it is about, all that. I was glad that Helen and Mom were friends. I don't understand the "why" of dementia; that is not Helen's problem -- it is ours who cared about her in these last years. Witnessed from a distance, I think Lynne and Stephen share admirable traits of their grandmother and mother. I'm sure God was with Helen and continues with her. May God be with all of us, too -- Jim, Lynne, Stephen, grandchildren, my mom, all of us.
