I first met June 54 years ago when I became friends with her son John, and she was always very gracious to me. I will miss her.
I will never forget the time I visited her at her home 30 years ago, just after I had proudly learned to make apple pie from scratch. By coincidence, she was doing the same, in her kitchen, making two of them at once and having a conversation with me the entire time - hardly paying any attention to the work she was doing. I was so impressed, and left there knowing I still had a great deal to learn about baking.

John, and the Withrow clan: Well, you had only ever to see those two together once to know that they would not be apart for long. Such a lovely and gracious lady, June was. A perfect foil for Bill. As I said earlier this year, your folks were so warm and welcoming not only to John but also to me, which was, frankly, not a usual custom in that milieu. I speak for both John and I went I extend our deepest condolences. To lose one parent is hard; to lose both in such a short space leaves such a big hole. But because of who those two were, their kindness and generosity leave a legacy beyond the stuff written in the papers or inscribed on a didactic panel. They were just good people, and that was evident in every day of their lives. Our thoughts are with you all while you regain your footing in a world that no longer has them in it but still includes them in so many people's hearts. June was a special lady, and will be sorely missed.

I met June and Bill late in their lives. What a handsome couple they were.
When June and Bill gave up their last apartment, I had the opportunity to buy their glass dining room table and chairs. I am sure there had been many happy and wonderful conversations around that table.
When June and Bill came up to visit Stephen and Christine, I invited June and Christine to come for afternoon tea with my Mother and myself. Before arriving at my home, June insisted that she must bring a hostess gift, and purchased a lovely plant. She was delighted to see her dining room table and chairs and to know that I loved them as much as she had when she and Bill had first purchased the set. We had a lovely visit. Christine brought June one more time to my home and although her memory issues were more present she remained the beautiful and gracious woman and again we had a lovely visit.
I still have the dining room table and chairs and the beautiful plant. Both remind me of June and Bill, too. I have lovely memories of June's visits. Thank you Stephen and Christine for giving me the opportunity to meet and visit with
Stephen's parents.
