Obituary of Helmi Soostar

HELMI SOOSTAR

March 18, 1927 – May 26, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helmi Soostar. Helmi passed from this life to find rest and peace in the heavens in her 91^st year. She was a tenacious force, who lived her life as a passionate and dedicated member of the Estonian community in Toronto.

Through a long and challenging life, Helmi’s greatest joy was found in her family, especially her three grandchildren whom she adored. She leaves a legacy of love for literature, music, art, and theatre which carries on in each one of her remaining family members.

Wife of the late Mart Soostar. She is lovingly remembered by her son Eric Soostar along with his wife Sharon and their son Aidan; her daughter Enda Soostar along with her husband Dan Brooks and their daughters, Marika and Lillian. We thank all of the staff at Ehatare Retirement and Nursing Home for their kindness, compassion and loving care.

The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) for a service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1st, with visitation from 10:00 a.m.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ehatare Retirement and Nursing Home.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
