Obituary of Abbegail Judith Elliott
Abbegail Judith Elliott
It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Abbegail Judith Elliott died at age 21 on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 after a violent attack in the Annex, Toronto. Abbe was born on St. Patrick’s Day 1997 in Markham, Ontario.
In her early years she was a beautiful, spirited young girl with blonde curls who had a big heart and a love of animals. Life was in Uxbridge until age 6 when the family moved to Toronto.
As she grew-up, Abbe developed her own unique style, changing hair colours and styles to suit her latest inspired look. We thought she might end-up in fashion someday, so creative and smart, playful and unique and able to figure out how to change a pair of basketball shorts “borrowed” from her father’s closet into a sexy, skimpy top to wear in a nightclub, much to her father’s chagrin. Abbe’s kind heart was focused most strongly on animals and the underdog. Her love shone the most brightly on those she felt needed it; on outcasts, the homeless and those who didn’t quite fit. When it came to animals, she loved everything from reptiles to hedgehogs. The love of her life was her little dog, Bella.
Abbe was fiercely loyal and would always stick-up for those she loved without giving it a second thought.
Her sister, Bryn, was her closest and most loyal friend. This special relationship survived all of the ups and downs of Abbe’s life. Abbe was always her strongest defender.
To those who knew her well, Abbe had a beautiful spirit. She had a loving brightness and a tenacious spark. Her path was bumpy. Early childhood trauma led to mental health issues and a battle with addiction. She received a lot of love, treatment and support but could not maintain her victories (Romans 7:15).
Abbe leaves behind a family grateful for having loved such a kind and unique spirit. Her mother, Shanon Elliott and fiancée Peter Arcangeli, father Bryan Elliott, his wife Victoria Elliott, sister Bryn Elliott and step-brother Kalen Gibbons. Her grandparents Dick and Judy Hawkins, Uncle Tim and Aunt Miquelle Hawkins, cousins Nia, Alie and Claire. Her grandmother Brenda Elliott, aunt Barb Elliott, and uncle Darren Elliott.
In Abbe’s words this Christmas, “I’m trying hard to be the person I’m meant to be.” Her goal in life was simple, to one day be the world’s best mother. Despite her difficult life situation, she continued to profess her faith in Jesus even in the days leading up to her death. To those who are struggling, Abbe’s hope would be that her story could provide inspiration for others to become the person they were meant to be.
We love you Abbe! You are now with the Lord, embraced by Grampie Ken and Uncle Mark, smiling down on us surrounded by your many animals. Abbe lost the battle but God won the war.
The family will receive friends at a funeral service in TORONTO CITY CHURCH, 36 Curity Avenue, Toronto, on Tuesday May 29th at 1 o’clock.
