Barbara and family please accept my sincere condolences. I always admired and looked up to Murray during our work life together at MTO head office for more than 20 years and watching him even venture outside his comfort zone while golfing with us in Bancroft one year. We had a great laugh together as he placed his approach to the green directly off the roof of the clubhouse. I have missed his company and our thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

I am so sorry to hear of Murray's passing. We worked together for quite some time at MTO and I always found him to be positive, professional, with real grace. Over the years, even though we didnt see each other very much after I left MTO, I enjoyed seeing Murray and considered him a real friend.
My condolences to the family. Murray was a true prince.

Dear Barb and Murray, Michael and Scott:
Barb Temple told me about your sad news. Although I was never an official resident of Yorkminster Road, I got to know you and Murray and shared many adventures there with you. It is cruel that someone as vital and active as Murray could be taken so soon.
My sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss, Barb.
Regards, Christine Featherstone

I initially met Murray in 1981 when we both worked on the PCV Act Review Committee and marvelled at his intellect grappling with multi-dimensional issues. In later years I got to know him on a much more personal level on numerous annual canoe trips with Peter Skorochod and Bill Raney.
Murray was a great companion to have at the other end of the canoe or the other side of the tent. His pack always seemed to contain the ideal item to address any need that arose and he had an amazing ability to effect repairs with duct tape and twine. I have many happy memories of those trips, including the difficulty he and I had on our first attempt to assemble his new tent until we realized we had it upside down.
Wherever he is now I hope there are canoes, calm winds, congenial companions and campfires.

My condolencesl. Murray and I worked together on projects such as the Partnerships Network of the Ontario Public Service in the 1980s and 1990's, which was a space to talk about and collaborate on innovative government management practices. We also worked together on the Toronto Regional Group of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, organizing talks and round-tables on public policy and management issues. I always thought that Murray and I were kindred spirits, sharing interests in fostering a collegial spirit, and a "learning organization" in the public sector. In recent years following retirement I lost contact with Murray. It was only recently on asking around with other former colleagues I heard of his condition.
A wonderful, sensitive, intelligent, empathetic person who contributed much, and was much appreciated by his colleagues.
Again, my condolences to all.

My condolences to the Lister family for your loss at this time.
I knew Murray for many years while working at MTO and more closely while playing
hockey together for some 20 + years. He was always such a nice smiling guy with a good
sense of humour and we enjoyed many a good laugh together. He is missed by the
whole hockey crew who knew him.
Again my condolences

Sad to see that Murray is gone. We were high school buddies and I lost track of him after that. I always knew he would be successful at whatever he pursued. He was always a slim, energetic guy. We curled together in Ottawa when we were at Glebe. Tried to find him on line with no luck. I can see his face now as he was back then. Rest in peace Murray. Chris

I worked for a short period of time with Murray many years ago at the Ministry of Transportation, together with Margaret Kelch (see post above); and, indeed, his late night work habits were legendary. After one all-night session, staff arrived at the regular morning start time to find Murray asleep on the boardroom table. Unfazed, Murray went home for some breakfast, a quick shower and shave, and was back at work by midday -- amazing! I got to know Murray a lot better by playing hockey with him for the better part of 30 years. Whether in the dressing room or on the ice, there were few players who seemed to enjoy the game more than Murray. It was a sad day for all of the players when the progress of his illness forced Murray to hang up his skates a few years ago. I have many fond memories of Murray and send my deepest condolences to all his family and friends.

Dear Barb, Murray, Mike and Scott, it seems impossible that Mur is gone now. Losing a parent/husband is quite a life changer. You all had so many adventures together - what wonderful memories. Barb, I saw how patiently and kindly you were caring for Mur when life was so irregular and unpredictable. Having the boys available to some extent was such a blessing. May the Lords peace and grace be multiplied to you all as you transition into life without Mur’s laughter and optimism. I’m actually thanking God that you and he, both, are relieved of the difficulties and frustrations of these last few months as the illness progressed. Marv and I are ‘with you in spirit, Barb, and boys. God bless you all. Syd

Barbara,
It has been years since we used to run into eachother, but so many memories came to mind when I read this morning about Murray. I was sorry to read as well that he had been suffering from Alzheimer's & know what a challenge that must have been for your both. Just to add a little levity to the message, my husband Jock Williams was a fighter pilot & coming back to Ottawa one night he flew quite low over London Ont. He had to go in front of Murray's dad who both chastised him for the noise that upset London but commended him for a good flight! Sorry Murray & Jock never met as I think they may have had stories to share.
My thoughts are with you, your children & grandchildren.
Fondly, Jo
