Hi Cathy
I wanted to send another message to follow up on the message that Krisztina and I previously sent. I am still in shock, and can not believe that Ross won't be in my life in Newfoundland. I will miss his kindness and generosity of spirt and mostly I will miss the fun and laughter that we shared. I am so happy that he and I and Krisztina had one last dinner party a couple of month back, it was a memorable one with Hungarian food, champagne, martinis, great conversation, dancing, and lots of laughter. Krisztina and I are forever indebted to you both for coming to our weeding, and for Ross's kind offer to take photos. Two of which we're blown up and hang on our walls.
Krisztina and I are both sad that we did not make it to either the wake or funeral, we were in Florida with Zsa Zsa on a family vacation. I have to tell you that I am still feeling guilty about not being at Ross's funeral. He was, and is, someone I consider to be a good dear friend, one of the few that I collected as an adult. Besides being a friend, he was a great Boss, making sure that myself and the guys in my department we're always fairly compensated and well treated. As some of the only non-unionized employees in the production he always made sure we were treated the same as the unionized employees. He was, and always will be, a shining star!
When things settle down for you I'd like to call and say hi, and someday I'd like to visit his final resting place.
I am sitting on my couch at home weeping, thinking about having you both here for New Years Day dinner in 2016. I am so sad right now. There have been a lot of tears shed for Ross by a lot of people, a testament to how he touched people; in a deep and connected way.
We both send you love and hugs at this difficult time.

I was rather shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Leslie's passing.
Honored to have been a part of Ross's production crew on a Television show in 2015.
Working on a production is a high-stress / long-hours environment. Despite having a huge level of responsibility on his shoulders, Ross always showed his crew members nothing but genuine kindness, respect, and consideration, that too- with a smile on his face!
He was such a friendly and kind-hearted individual whose professionalism and tact as a Production Manager never faltered.
He was a truly unique and memorable personality who I am sure will be missed by all the lives he touched.
Sending warmth and my deepest condolences to all of you during this time.
Sincerely,
Vinita

I was so shocked to learn of Ross's passing today. I only met him twice - the first was the very special 25th Wedding Anniversary at the DCC. I was so impressed by the warmth and love and the sheer joy of living that was shared between Cathy and Ross. Ross impressed me as just the person described in the obituary and a person emblematic of the very special and vibrant community that forms the Villagiature Dunany. I am so sorry that you and Lauren and the rest of the family have had this sudden loss. My heart goes out to you all.

Dear Cathy,
We are in negotiations tonight or I would certainly have been there, along with so many others, to say goodbye to my old friend. Like everyone else, I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news. Ross was a very special person. I don’t know anyone else in the business who was both universally loved and respected. The most fun I’ve ever had on a film was with Ross on “The Boy in Blue”., which was his first film job. I guess that’s where he got his taste for the business and it was obvious that he was destined to do well in it. He was resourceful, imaginative, and a great problem solver. He also cracked me — and everyone - up regularly. I have very fond memories of hours and hours (misspent) at Grumpy’s, and mixed drinks magically appearing out of his small cooler at Expos games. We’ve known each other since our early 20’s. Funny, it seems both very long ago and like it was yesterday.
I can’t imagine how hard this must be for you and Lauren. He was too young. It was much too soon. I hope you are both comforted by the outpouring of love and affection being expressed.
Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. We are all feeling it too...

I am deeply saddened upon hearing of Ross' sudden passing. Ross was a wonderful colleague when I worked with him on a TV series in the mid-90's as he was breaking into the industry from his theatre background. We remained friendly for many years and I would often run into Ross in a neighbourhood martini bar we both frequented and we would share a cocktail and catch up. Ross' career success over the years wasn't surprising as he was smart, adept and wonderful with people. I know Ross will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him. Sending heartfelt condolences to his wife, daughter and family, I hope your cherished memories bring comfort during this difficult time.

Oh Ross!
To his family and close friends I extend my deepest! I met Ross while he was the B/ Agent at N.A.B.E.T, in ....1993? So warm, so accommodating and so helpful.
When he branched out; and became a P.M. I had, but a few, chances to work with him.
Always 'Stellar', always 'Genuine'.
The last we spoke, together, was on 'Anne of Green Gables'. We were out at the Milton 'Pioneer Village'.
I was just a 'lowly' shuttle driver, at that time,................he did not care!
It was as if; it was just yesterday that we had seen each other!
Onward through the Stars my friend, Onward!

Cathy, it's hard to know what to say. Ross was such a grand friend to Kent. A cross between and friend and mentor. We spent many nights with great conversation, food and wine at his place in downtown St. John's and finally met you. Seeing how the two of you were together; heartwarming.
Most of the pictures Kent and I have from our wedding, our favourites up on our walls, were taken by Ross. He got up early that day to photograph the sunrise at Signal Hill, then went on to share and capture our most precious moments together.
It was strange the day we said goodbye when he left NL for the last time. Always before, we knew he was coming back. This time was different. It really felt like saying goodbye, which was odd, given we were sure we'd see him again in our travels.
Our hearts go out to you and your daughter. Love & prayers,
Krisztina & Kent

I had the honour of working with Ross for quite a few years, first in film production and then at NABET. He was the finest most decent man I've ever worked with but he was so much more than that, he certainly knew how to have a good time and loved his family and community. The last time I saw him was when I was visiting St. John's. Steve and I showed up for our dinner at Raymond's and there was a warm welcome and champagne waiting for us courtesy of Ross. He met us after in the bar where we realized he knew everyone then took us to a pub for live music and then ended the evening at his house for a drink. It wasn't just a drink though, Ross had ice from an iceberg! A very typical Ross evening! I will miss him profoundly and extend my deepest sympathies to Cathy and Lauren, his family and his legions of friends.

I have such fond memories of Ross from what seems like yesterday but was actually a few years ago on the series 'Total Recall'. Like all theatre types, Ross was so human compared to non theatre types and we so appreciated his sense of fun and love of gossip. Indeed, Ross was always talking about his lovely wife Cathy and his beloved daughter, Lauren. What my department ( props ) had in common with Ross was cottages, we all had one and that's what we talked about endlessly. The last time I saw Ross was at my favourite coffee shop in 2015, he was with Suzanne Colvin and I photographed them together to share with Victoria Klein to make her jealous. We're still in shock at the great loss of Ross so I cannot imagine how his family must feel at the suddenness of his death. My heart goes out to you, his family.

We saw Ross and his family a few times a year but the most memorable for me was always at my parents house at christmas. The house was filled with aunts, uncles and cousins. Ross woukd gather all the younger cousins together to do a treasure hunt. We would all race around the house in search of clues. Ross took great delight in watching us trying to figure out his clues. I remember him as kind and creative and was not surprised to see on facebook many years later that he went down a very creative path. Derek Leslie posted a condolence

He was one of the most even tempered men I have ever met. His ego was minute, yet his resume stretched from coast to coast and from North to South just as far. The first time we met, at a family reunion, he came with a gift for me. For his cousin who was much younger and basically of the next generation, from a Dennis Quade movie he had just finished working on. That was Rossi though, ever the Leslie Clan historian and proud sharer of history, it makes sense now why he would consider this cherished gift to a clan member making his first acqaintance. You see to Ross, things were important. No, not money things or flashy things, but real things like that coat or like pictures of my departed father which I had never seen, he would post them on my birthday or on the anniversary of my fathers death, each one with a little paragraph or joke to go with it telling of my fathers escapades. Truly the type of gift one could never expect nor even fathom until received. The beauty of Ross was his delivery of such beauty, from the coat and pictures down to simple things like his story telling. He was a literal library of stories, but he never pushed them on you, he would always match the story with the conversation and oh so sweetly drop a hollywood name or series he had worked on, which is when it got good, because despite him not being an attention getter in any way shape or form, if you knew Rossi, you knew the story was going to be good, not just good but REALLY good. His timing was epic, his smile was so genuine and easy you had no choice but to fall into his words. He was a Leslie, of the Clan Leslie of Edinburgh, Scotland, by way of Morin Heights, Quebec, and by way of Hollywood to all of you. You will be missed but NEVER forgotten Rossi, and always remembered as the kind of Leslie Chief I want to be. Love you and Rest In Peace.
