Obituary of Michel Broschart

MICHEL BROSCHART

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michel Broschart on Thursday, March 8, 2018, after an 18-month battle with leukemia. He was 79 years old.

He lived a life that will continue to be an inspiration for all. Michel's strong work ethic, knowledge and leadership led him to become the passionate educator he was, in France and then in Canada, where he spent his professional life involved in French language education in Ontario. Over a thirty-five-year span, he was a teacher, a pedagogical counsellor, a school principal and retired as a public servant at the Ministry of Education. To say that he was wise, principled, practical, and curious would be just a start. He was a leader, a go-getter, a tinkerer, an avid chatterer, a listener, a traveller and lived his life with passion and enthusiasm. He loved people and was known to strike up conversations with anybody. His zest for life could be heard in his contagious laughter.

The past year and a half was a testament to his strong will and determination as he faced his illness with courage and dignity. He was surrounded by his loving family throughout this journey and in his final moments. He did not want to leave us and his joie de vivre will always remain in our hearts.

Michel is survived by his loving wife Marie-Paule, sons Olivier and Patrick, and daughter Stéphanie, as well as his three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his extended family here and in France, and also his treasured friends.  

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, on Tuesday, March 20th 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday March 21st at 1:00 p.m., with a reception immediately following. In memory of Michel, please share a glass of wine and good food with family and friends, and practice random acts of kindness. C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Michel Broschart le jeudi 8 mars 2018, après avoir lutté contre la leucémie pendant 18 mois. Il avait 79 ans.

Il a vécu une vie qui continuera d'être une inspiration pour nous tous. Ses grandes connaissances et son travail ont fait de lui un bon éducateur passionné en France et surtout au Canada dans l'éducation en langue française en Ontario. Pendant plus de 30 ans il a été professeur, conseiller pédagogique, directeur d'école et a fini sa carrière au Ministère de l'Éducation. Travailleur juste et plein d'entrain, il savait partager ses idées et aussi il savait écouter. Il aimait voyager et découvrir le monde. Il a vécu sa vie avec passion et curiosité. Tout ce qu'il entreprenait il le faisait avec joie et avidité. Son enjouement était communicatif et son rire était contagieux. 

Il a combattu la maladie avec courage et dignité. Sa fin a été un long parcours difficile qu'il a accompli sans plainte avec l'amour de sa famille toujours présente. Personne n'oubliera sa joie de vivre qui restera gravée dans nos coeurs. Il sera toujours parmi nous.

Il laisse pour le regretter son épouse Marie-Paule, ses fils Olivier et Patrick, et sa fille Stéphanie, ainsi que ses petits et arrière-petits enfants, sa famille en France, et de nombreux amis. La famille vous accueillera le mardi 20 mars 2018 entre 18h et 20h au salon funéraire Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 avenue Bayview, Toronto.  Les funérailles auront lieu le mercredi 21 mars à 13h dans la chapelle du salon funéraire suivi d'une réception.  En souvenir de Michel, faites comme lui :  riez et malgré les embûches prenez la vie du bon côté.
