Obituary of Lorraine Davie
ISOBEL LORRAINE DAVIE (Nee PURVIS)
One who smiled when she saw you, regardless if she knew you or not;
One who knew that life was better loved, rather than fought;
One who held your hand when your heart ached;
And One who thought that tea was nice with cookies, but better with cake.
As the matriarch of the family, Lorraine drew direct comparisons with Queen Elizabeth II. Not only did she influence the people around her through her love and compassion, but she shared her years of wisdom with anyone who was lucky enough to ask. An amazing mother, grandmother, partner, and friend, Lorraine always made you feel like you were the only person in the room. Although she has left us here, we know that she is wearing something with sequins up there!
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Davie in Toronto on Thursday March 8, 2018.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Orvil Davie and her sister Dorothy Adams, and is survived by her sister Carole Bowie. She will forever be remembered as the steadfast cheerful mother by her children Jeffrey (Margaret), Deborah (Carl Attwood) and Melinda; as their wonderful Grammy by her seven grandchildren; Thomas and William Davie; Ashton, Clayton and Nathan (Davie Attwood), and Ben and Emily (Shilletto).
The family is forever grateful to the loving and supportive community she found at the Claremont Retirement Home in her twilight, and in her last years the wonderful minute to minute care from her Home Instead caregivers.
A funeral service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Friday, March 16th at 11 a.m.
Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
