Obituary of Florence Fynney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Aunt Florence Fynney on Friday March 2, in Toronto. She is predeceased by her parents John and Annie (Pover) Fynney and her siblings Dora, Joseph, Muriel (Blair), Olive and Vera (Walker). She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, friends and her cherished cat Veronica. Born in Montreal on June 19, 1921, Florence’s family moved to Toronto when she was two. As an extraordinarily long serving member of the Imperial Oil Co. in Toronto, Florence joined the company in 1946, as a Comptometer Operator. She carried on with Imperial Oil Co. well beyond her retirement in various capacities.  As an almost 60 year resident of Leaside, she served her community in various roles including Meals on Wheels, and as a monthly donor to the Toronto Humane Society. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnybrook Holland Centre, Nisbet Lodge and Toronto East General Hospital for all the care that they have shown to our Aunt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 645 Millwood Rd. Toronto, or the Toronto Humane Society in memory of our Aunt. Cremation has taken place. Details for a Celebration of Life and Internment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery will follow.
