Dear Charlie and the Moses Family,
It is with deep sadness that we learned of your loss. Though years have also generated some distance, we are forever blessed by the fortune of having known Lani.
We became acquainted through sailing the "pond" aboard Assegai, and are reminded that life is not so different than a long sail:
"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

So sad to read the notice today in the Creemore Echo. While i didn't know Lani very well,
she was always lovely to speak with, an avid volunteer in our community, especially
Purple Hills Arts and Heritage Society, where she co-chaired our most successful
garden tour fund raiser. Condolences to Charles and family. We will miss her.

Charlie;;Veda and I were just devastated to hear the news of Lani's sudden and unexpected passing and can only offer you and your family our deepest and most heartfelt condolences.
Words cannot encompass the sorrow and grief that you must be bearing at this time although you will undoubtedly be able to draw strength from your strong and supportive family.Please also know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time and do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything that we can do to help .
Lani was a ..wonderful charming lady ,always ready with a smile and a kind word anytime we met .Having talked with you many times it was clear that she was your soulmate and dearest friend .

Dear Charlie and family,
Ed and I are deeply saddened to read of Lani's death and wish to extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to you all on your loss of a dynamic and fun loving wife. mother and grandmother. We have spent many very happy times with you both, Charlie, and have always enjoyed the opportunity to share experiences, stories and good laughs.
I particularly remember the outstanding business Lani and Susie shared in seasonal decorations for Christmas...the great sale at your home on Douglas Drive which resulted in some fabulous décor for the season in our homes and on our snow covered lawns!
Lani's creative touch and her love of flora and fauna made for some outstanding entries in the Garden Club and Botanical Garden competitions. Thank you Lani for sharing your talents and vision, inspiring the rest of us to try harder.
Most of all I will remember the twinkle in Lani's eye and her warm and engaging smile.
We are so sorry for your loss and we hope that the years of life and love with Lani have given you a lifetime of happy memories.
