My sincerest condolences to the entire Austin family and especially to Marg. I got to know lots of my parents' friends but the Austins became 2 of my absolute favourites. So many wonderful memories of sharing a cabin in Thornbury, sharing the Alpine slopes with Mac, then getting back to the cabin to see how far Marg got on her latest jigsaw puzzle before she beat me (a mere child at the time!) senseless at Scrabble. And what an honour and pleasure it was to have Judge Austin officiate at my wedding. I will cherish these fond memories. A wonderful man will be missed.

My condolences to the family. I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Mac as a colleague on the Court of Appeal. I have many fond memories of him. His door was always open and he made everyone feel welcome to come in, be it to discuss a problem, seek advice, vent, or just share a few laughs. He was very down to earth and humble but so sharp-minded. He never made it sound like he was giving advice, but somehow I always felt wiser when I left than when I came in. He was a great man. RIP Mac.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Justice Austin whom I remember very fondly from my years as Executive Officer to the Chief Justice of Ontario. He was an excellent and respected judge of both the High Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal. In addition, we had a family connection since his niece Liebes Austin is married to my wife's first cousin. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

To the Austin family, I was so sorry to see Mac’s obituary in the Globe. He was my father’s junior partner long ago and we saw him (and Marg) quite often. The last time I saw him was at my Dad’s funeral where Mac delivered a beautiful eulogy. My thoughts are with you all. He was a fine man. Katherine

I had the pleasure and the honour of working with Mac when he returned to WeirFoulds after leaving the bench. His office was beside mine and we spent many an occasion chatting about life. He was a true gentleman and I admired him very much.

I am so saddened to hear of the death of Mac He was such a fine man When I was a young lawyer many years ago he was so helpful to me I admired and respected him so much The word that comes to mind Gentleman There are few of them in this world and Mac was one of them May the Lord welcome him with open arms I am so sorry for Margaret at the loss of her dear husband He showed his love to her in so many ways All my prayers to you and your family Marjorie Hiley
