I said a sad goodbye to Margaret today. I was (and still am) in utter disbelief that she is no longer with us. I was extremely fortunate to know her, and to act along side her in some ACT II productions. Who can forget her raucous singing of Jezebel!
Dear, dear Margaret, I shall miss those sparkling, mischievous eyes, and the sidelong glances - 'what is he/she asking us to do again?'
Heartfelt condolences to the family.

I was very saddened to hear of Margaret’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with her while she was at the CBC and I was with the BBC. We had great fun and she taught me a lot about the industry when I was young and new to it all. She was smart, generous, kind and had a great sense of humour. I recall when we sold the CBC the Queen Mother’s obituary (10 years before her death!) that she kept it in her office under lock and key and chose the code name “My Fair Lady”. She joked that she kept the key around her neck. I greatly missed her when she retired but was delighted when we ran into each other once again a few years ago. We had some fun chats about the “old days”. She will be missed.

I am saddened to learn of Margaret's sudden death. I was fortunate to be in several acting courses with her at ACT II Studio where she was unfailingly warm and generous, and utterly without pretension. And, where a single sideways glance from her or a tiny lift of her eyebrow would have us all falling about ourselves, helpless with laughter. Margaret was a delight and will be greatly missed.

I have known Margaret for 60 years and she has been my best friend for all of that time. So many memories, adventures we shared, love of theatre, movies, TV, and a glass of wine! She always knew the answers in our Trivial Pursuit tournaments. She was so proud of her extensive family and Auntie Margaret was always sharing pictures of them all. I have a hole in my heart and am not sure it can be healed. Sleep well my dear friend. Kathy

I was devastated to hear of Margaret's passing. She was one of my favourite students, and I'm extremely proud of her accomplishments in film and commercials.
She took many of my classes, and was always helpful with students who didn't have her experience. I think I learned as much from Margaret as she learned from me.
I'm very pleased that she got to walk the Red Carpet at TIFF, thanks to Mr. Don McKellar. His condolence tells her story far better than I ever could.
Margaret and I often had fun remanising about working in Newfoundland, which is a wonderful experience in itself.
My condolences to Margaret's family, she will be missed.

Hard to believe that we won't be seeing our beloved Margaret around Act II Studio any longer. She was such a delight to be with and to play with!
The first time I worked with Margaret we were paired together in a Play Creation course, and our task was to create a 'vocal masque'. For our theme, Margaret suggested 'blue' because blue was her favourite colour. I said "Yes, and..."! Our instructor seemed a bit bemused by our choice, I'm sure wondering how we would pull it off (as was I).
Margaret and I had a blast developing our piece (so much laughter) and a lot of fun performing it at an Act II matinee.
The last time I played with Margaret was this past spring. She provided the comic relief in a very poignant play about end of life issues.
Feeling very blue that Margaret's life has ended, as I'm sure many are. Condolences to all.

I was deeply saddened to learn the news of Margret's death. I had hoped to work with her again.
I had the great pleasure to direct her in The Grand Seduction. Indeed, I introduced her at several premieres as my greatest discovery, a brilliant up-and-comer. Of course, that wasn't entirely true -- she'd been acting and training for years -- but I was happy to take credit for showcasing her fresh and underexposed talent.
I auditioned scores of people for the part of Ellie. It proved to be a surprisingly difficult role to fill. But after I saw Margaret read, I knew immediately that my search was over. She had an energy and enthusiasm that is hard to find in a mature performer. And a charm, charisma and natural wit, that is hard to find at any age.
It proved to be the casting coup of my career. What a joy it was to see her go head to head with her formidable cohorts in the cast! And what a trooper she was putting up (after some well-deserved, good-natured grumbling) with her less than luxurious accommodations in the little Newfoundland village we called home that summer.
She truly had a rare talent and audiences adored her.
It was a real pleasure to work with Margaret and spend some time with her. I would like to pass on my condolence to the family. A sad loss. But I'd also like to confess to them, my gentle envy. Margaret is my idea of the perfect aunt and what a gift you have had to have her in the family.
Sincerely,
Don McKellar
.

Margaret was a force to be reckoned with. As a actor, she could make you laugh or cry in the blink of an eye. She was supportive and "straight forward" with her advice on acting and writing. A remarkable woman and a wonderful role model. It was a privilege to know her. She will be greatly missed.

My history with Margaret goes way back to 1958 when I first started working at the CBC. We were part of a great foursome of girls who never lost total contact with each other. Although you are gone now you have left a legacy that I can officially say "see you in the movies". P3RRB
