Obituary of Robert (Bob) Price

PRICE, Robert (Bob) Gordon – passed away peacefully on Sunday November 26, 2017 at Humber River Hospital, Toronto, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Lillian (nee Robson), children Robert Bruce, Nancy Ellen, Donald Murray, David Gordon, Duncan Donald and Heather Ann as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a daughter, Jane Marie Zapora.

 

Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 24, 1925 to Donald Gordon Price and Fidelia (nee D’Onofrio) Price. He spent most of his childhood in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, where he resided with his uncle and aunt, Bruce and Pearl Williams. He received a BA from the University of Ottawa in 1948 and graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1952 with an LLB degree. From 1952 to 1976 Bob was a partner with the law firm Williams & Price in Kirkland Lake. He moved his law practice to Ottawa in 1976 and then to Toronto in 1984 where it continued until now.

 

Bob was very proud of his legal career of over 65 years and until his recent illness, was at his office practicing in the field of estates and trusts.  Bob represented foreign beneficiaries of Canadian estates and acted for various Consulates and Embassies situated in Ontario. During his career Bob was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1962; Deputy Registrar of the Liquor License Board of Ontario from 1964 to 1974; Assistant Crown Attorney for the District of Timiskaming in 1965; and elected to the Board of Education from 1955 to 1966 and Town Councilor from 1967 to 1976 in Kirkland Lake.  In addition, Bob was the recipient of the Osgoode Hall Gold Key Honour Award, the Order of Merit from the Republic of Poland, the Czechoslovakian Medal of Merit, and the Bulgarian Golden Laurel.

 

Bob will be dearly missed by his family and friends and staff at Williams & Price.

 

The family wishes to thank Dr. Chang and the staff at Humber River Hospital for their kind attention and care over the past few months. A special thanks to Dr. Gorlick for his many years of care and special attention.
