I am deeply saddened to learn today about Paul's untimely passing.
I worked closely with him in the 1990's when I was Chair of the Specialist Coalition of Ontario and Paul was our legal counsel. Paul was our rock and our champion. He was thorough and analytical and unbelievably quick on the uptake of details related to a complex multistakeholder conflict, and later negotiation. He had a calm during the storm that reassured us that tomorrow, the sun will still rise, and that there was still cause for optimism and progress. He saw the big picture and knew how to advance our cause in a balanced and thoughtful manner.
Most specialists in Ontario probably do not know of Paul's enormous contribution, but he was a true friend and advocate for fair treatment of doctors, and for improved quality of health care for all Ontarians. My respect for him will never diminish. My condolences to his family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I, and other physicians, had the privilege of working closely with Paul after he took the Specialist Coalition of Ontario under his wing.
His kind and thoughtful guidance was invaluable to us at a time when it was most needed. Every specialist physician in the province is in his debt.
Not only did he work tirelessly to help us, he was a remarkable role model of how to conduct ourselves under stress and in situations many of us had never experienced.
It was a tremendous honour to know Paul. He was a true gentleman.
Sincerest condolences for your loss.

Paul was the ultimate gentleman who demonstrated great compassion for individuals that were often left behind by society. He was always respectful to everyone he encountered and was a brilliant legal professional who showed the utmost kindness to others. I learned so much from him and will always be grateful to him for how he treated our staff during a very high profile complex legal matter over several years. Staff always felt supported by having him in their corner. I will always consider Paul as a special friend that I was privileged to know. My sincere condolences to his family.

I am deeply saddened by Paul's passing. I met Paul back in the 1960's when he and my husband attended St. Pat's. He was always so kind to me and I was happy he was able to visit us in August when my husband was sick. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

I met Paul (and Micki) years before Paul got appointed to the bench. Once he was appointed, I loved the occasional chance to appear before him on behalf of the Crown at Old City Hall. It always made my day.
He was a true gentleman both on and off the bench. It saddens me that his family, friends and the profession have lost him so young.
Micki, children and all of his family, please know that loving thoughts and prayers surround you.

Dear Mrs. French and Family:
I was deeply saddened by the news of your loss. Please accept my sincerest condolences. Paul was a true friend and mentor to me from the early days of my career when we first me at Arthur Maloney's office in 1980. Whenever I met Paul over the years I found him to be consistently kind and genuine, the same friend I met in 1980. Paul was a true gentleman and wonderful individual. I am proud to have known him and grateful for his friendship and mentorship.
God bless you in this time of sorrow. My thoughts are with you.
David Rendeiro.

Very sorry to hear of Paul's death. I knew him from high school and from his
time at the University of Ottawa Law School. He was always a pleasure to
meet and my dad was very proud of his accomplishments because he had
gotten his legal education at Ottawa. He will be sorely missed.

To the French Family -
My sincere condolences over the passing of dear Paul. I have nothing but the fondest memories of Paul and our time at Lake Clear. I remember so clearly riding at the front of the boat, holding on hard as we drove up to Feather Island with him behind the wheel, or his mischievous laugh as he tried to dunk one of us tubing. I remember driving and him playing Rita McNein on repeat and finding it so hilarious as it played over and over. He made things fun and was so easy with a laugh and smile. I will never forget him. He left an incredible legacy through his beautiful marriage to Mickey and his gorgeous children and grand children. Paul, you will be so greatly missed and always thought upon with love and fondness. Thank you for everything. lots of love, lesley

Paul was a wonderful colleague who contributed so much to our court. I knew of Paul through mutual friends in Ottawa and Toronto before he was appointed to our court. Needless to say I was keen to meet the person they all held in such high regard. I wasn't disappointed. I'm so glad I got to know Paul and I'm sorry his time with us was too short. My sympathies to the entire family.

Dear Mickie and family,
I was so saddened to read about Paul's passing today. I have lovely memories of our Israel trip together with HIndy and crew and recall how generous he was with his time and muscles to help with our wheelchair bound colleague. A good man leaving us this world far too soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
