Obituary of Velika Draginov

Velika Draginov

1924-2017

DRAGINOV, Velika - Wife, Mother, Baba and Great-Baba passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at ninety-three years of age surrounded by her loved ones. Velika was born in Nevoleny, Macedonia.  A young freedom fighter, she met her husband Dimitrie in Macedonia during a time of civil unrest.  They would make a life-changing journey as a young couple and immigrate to Toronto. Together they created a home in Cabbagetown for everyone they loved. This special place would become the foundation for many milestones and memories that continue to touch the hearts and minds of their family. Velika lived out their shared vision, to spend the rest of her golden years in the comfort of her own home with generations of their children by her side.  Velika was the life-long love and wife of Dimitrie who awaits her at heaven’s gates. She is also predeceased by her beloved son Trajan Tom Draginov and son-in-law Demosthenes Maniates.  Beloved mother of Mary Maniates, Louis Draginov (Jenny Lederer) and George Draginov.   Cherished Baba to Evi Maniates and Natalie Dimitra (Cameron) Montgomery, Kyle and Jamie Draginov, and Arman Draginov.  Great-grandmother to Sonya, Nina, and Theodore. She was the sister of Victoria (John) Karabellas, and will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2nd.  The funeral service will be held in ST. CLEMENT OF OHRID MACEDONIAN ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL, 76 Overlea Boulevard, Toronto on Friday, November 3rd at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
